As a mom, though, you aren’t easily swayed by things like product design awards. You want to know why your child should sit in this particular high chair.
This high chair was designed with child ergonomics in mind. Believe it or not, posture and positioning are supremely important during mealtimes. Evidently, my toddler’s habit of lounging backward with his legs on the table isn’t ideal.
Proper eating posture means better head control for the youngest diners. For more independent eaters, good posture allows them easier access to their plates. Most importantly, proper positioning promotes safer swallowing and decreases the risk of aspiration.

Easy to Clean
When shopping for a high chair, I skim reviews until I found the section about cleaning it. There is a lot of challenges of babyhood and I feel having to scrub down a high chair three times a day was an unnecessary one. I still get flashbacks of trying to clean off pureed peas from a high chair harness.
If you aren’t interested in dedicating a third of your day to cleaning a high chair, I’d recommend going with the Clikk. It was specifically designed without the nooks and crannies found in traditional high chairs. It’s in those nooks and crannies that baby food gets lost forever.
While the chair doesn’t include any fabric seat cover, it does have a 5-point harness that attaches directly to the seat. Luckily, it is easy to snap off and then you can throw the entire harness into the washing machine! The manufacturer recommends washing it in a cool cycle, or a wash that is around 40 degrees.
Likewise, the high chair’s tray is a breeze to keep clean as well. Small messes simply wipe clean. After a particularly messy meal, though, the tray can be placed in the dishwasher. It’s dishwasher safe? Oh yes!

Easy Assembly
Assembling this high chair is so easy. While the manufacturer claims it only takes 1 minute to assemble, in reality, parents have found it takes even less than a minute!
Still, you don’t have to take my word for it. Check out this video from Stokke. It includes a real-time assembly of the Clikk and the entire process clocked in at 34 seconds. Time is valuable, mommas!
To assemble, you’ll start with the seat component. From there, the four wooden legs snap into the corresponding holes on the bottom of the seat. Then, you just need to attach the tray and footplate.
As you assemble the high chair, you’ll realize where the name “Clikk” comes from. As you slide the parts together, you will hear a clear “click” as each piece secures in place.
Disassembly is as easy as the assembly. Where you originally clicked pieces together, you’ll find a gray button. Pressing this button releasing the legs, tray, and footplate. All 8 parts can then be placed in a bag for easy travel. No small pieces!
Concerns About the Stokke Clikk High Chair
Tray is Difficult to Remove
Many parents have found it difficult to remove the tray for the Stokke Clikk high chair. Removal often requires two hands, the availability of which is rare in parenting.
While this is certainly an annoying feature, it doesn’t cool my feelings for the Clikk. Honestly, I have never encountered a high chair that didn’t utterly frustrate me when it came time to remove the tray! While the Clikk doesn’t break the mold here, it certainly isn’t a reason to pass it up.
Tray is Small
To keep the high chair’s footprint small, the Clikk does have a smaller-than-average tray. Most other high chairs have huge bulky trays with more surface area for mealtime. Even so, the Clikk’s tray still has adequate space for a plate or bowl and a sippy cup.
Again, I’m not willing to take the Clikk down a peg for this. When my son was in a high chair, he only utilized the small area of the tray in front of him. If he did venture to the sides of the tray, it was only to make a mess with his food.
A small tray may be a deal-breaker for you though. Keep the tray size in mind before deciding on the Clikk high chair.
Price
Okay, so this is a major point and you probably saw it coming when you realized this was a Stokke product. Stokke churns out stylish and chic baby products and they aren’t bargain deals by any means.
High-quality materials and promises of lifetime use back up the prices Stokke sets. Still, if you’ve been eyeing Stokke’s famous Tripp Trapp chair but can’t justify the price, you can get your hands on the Clikk for almost half the price!
The Stokke Clikk vs The Stokke Tripp Trapp
The award-winning Tripp Trapp high chair is instantly recognizable. Introduced in 1972, this wooden ergonomic chair has been part of millions of families’ homes.
Both Stokke high chairs reflect minimalist styles and offer ergonomic positioning. Also, both chairs give children a “place at the table” at table height, which promotes family bonding.
While both chairs come from the Stokke company, there have significant differences. Firstly, the Tripp Trapp is intended for lifetime use. This is a chair for babies, adults, and everyone in between. The Clikk high chair is targeted for use through infanthood and toddlerhood only.
Secondly, the Tripp Trapp isn’t lightweight like the Clikk. While the Clikk is a mere 8 pounds, the Tripp Trapp tips the scales at 15 pounds, thanks to its all-wood design.
Lastly, the Clikk high chair is significantly lower in price. If you aren’t really in the market for a high chair that lasts until adulthood, the Clikk can do the job for almost half the price.

The Chair by Lalo is a newcomer, like the Clikk. Like the Tripp Trapp, it’s a chair intended to grow with your child. Like the Clikk, that growing ends somewhere in the toddler years.
The Chair is a lightweight and compact minimalist high chair. Once your child outgrows the need for a high chair, The Chair transforms into a sweet minimalist play chair.
Both the Clikk and The Chair are sleek, easy-to-clean, and promote good ergonomics with adjustable footrests. Similarities aside, the Clikk still comes out ahead. This is mostly due to the limitations of The Chair past mealtime. To “shrink” The Chair to a play chair, you have to buy additional chair legs. Furthermore, a single play chair isn’t very useful without a companion or two.

What age range is the Clikk high chair appropriate for?
The Stokke Clikk high chair is intended for ages 6 months to 3 years. As with most high chairs, infants should be able to sit on their own before using the Clikk high chair.
However, that 3-year limit may be a little optimistic. The maximum weight limit of this chair is 33 pounds. While the average 3-year-old weighs 31 pounds, that does mean some 3-year-olds are weighing in at higher weights.
There is another option that Stokke has come out with called the Stokke Steps Chair if you are interested in a chair rather than a booster seat for a toddler or older child. This seat supports up to 187 lbs making it work far beyond toddler years for your child. You also can add accessories to this chair to make it a baby bouncer for an infant or a high chair for an older child.
What accessories are available for the Clikk high chair?
Stokke offers some accessories to go with the Clikk high chair. None of these are required to use the high chair, as Stokke positions it as a high chair that needs no “extras.” Still, accessories are fun!
For a comfy seat, you can buy the Clikk high chair cushion. It’s made with breathable cotton and reversible, with one coated side that is easier to wipe clean.
Stokke also sells a line of mealtime accessories under the name Stokke Munch. The product line includes silicone bibs and bowls and a weighted bottom sippy cup.
