The Best Britax Travel Systems

For years, Britax has been a leader in the baby product arena. Their travel systems are products that live up to that reputation. The brand’s car seat and stroller combinations bring together Britax’s best features and make parents’ lives easier every day.

In this guide, we will compare Britax’s best travel systems and highlight their features in order to help you make the right decision for you and your family.

Most Affordable Britax Travel System:

Britax B-Free Travel Systems

Both the Britax B-Free Travel System with B-Safe Ultra Infant Car Seat and Britax B-Free Travel System with Endeavours Infant Car Seat have a generous weight capacity. The Britax Endeavours Infant Car Seat has more safety features than the B-Safe Ultra Infant Car Seat.

To start out the gates, we have two travel systems featuring the Britax B-Free stroller. The travel systems only vary in which car seat comes included. One includes the Britax B-Safe Ultra while the other has the Endeavors car seat.

Britax B-Free Travel System with B-Safe Ultra Infant Car Seat

The Britax B-Free Travel System with B-Safe Ultra Infant Car Seat includes an infant car seat and its base, a three-wheeled stroller, and adapters. The car seat is rear-facing only and has a weight capacity of 35 pounds. The B-Free stroller can be used from birth up to 65 pounds.

Three-Wheel Configuration with Swivel Front Wheel

In general, strollers with three wheels instead of four are easier to maneuver. They are easier to push with one hand, in case you only have one free. Of course, a swiveling front wheel gives the stroller a better turn radius which makes the B-Free’s configuration a winner all around.

High Weight Capacity

Most competing strollers hit their weight capacity at around 50 pounds. This is certainly a substantial limit! However, the B-Free can accommodate children up to 65 pounds, meaning this is a stroller you can have for years beyond the infant stage.

Storage

So often with strollers, storage is a major pain point. There is never enough storage, is there? The B-Free stroller goes all-in on this issue with seven storage pockets.

The first pocket is the storage basket found at the bottom. It is spacious and has a 10-pound capacity. Most customers find their diaper bag fits with no issue.

The other pockets can be found in the canopy and in the seat. There’s even a sneaky hidden one found on the underside of the flip-up calf rest. Your phone, your baby’s toys, and both your snacks will all be safe and secure.

Adjustable Handle

Perhaps I have lived a different experience than you, reader, but I have come to find that a stroller’s handles or handlebar are never the ideal height. At 5’5″, I’m not breaking any height records and yet I still usually wish a stroller’s handles were higher up.

The handlebar on the B-Free is fully adjustable, meaning you are sure to find the right height for your comfort level.

B-Safe Ultra Infant Car Seat

This B-Free Travel System comes with the B-Safe Ultra Infant Car Seat. This infant carrier is the brand’s latest iteration of the B-Safe seat. It’s the most convenient seat they offer, thanks to features like a quick-adjust no-rethread harness and the SafeCenter LATCH system. It is also rideshare-friendly because it includes a European belt guide.

Final Thoughts

The Britax B-Free stroller combined with the B-Safe Ultra car seat is a winning mix. Both components are high on the ease-of-use scale, so you’re bound to love them.

Britax B-Free Travel System with Endeavours Infant Car Seat

Popularity

The Britax B-Free Travel System with Endeavours Infant Car Seat is an infant car seat travel system with everything you need already included. The weight capacities are the same as the last travel system. The car seat tops out at 35 pounds and the stroller can handle up to 65 pounds.

Before we reviewed just a few features of the B-Free stroller, but in this section, we’ll highlight just a few more! After we’ll discuss what makes the Endeavors different from the B-Safe Ultra.

One-Hand Fold

One hand is all you need to fold up the Britax B-Free stroller. A handle is found on the seat and when it is pulled, the stroller folds itself. For easy storage, this stroller is also self-standing!

No-Flat Tires

Strollers are made with different types of tires. Ones that are air-filled tend to be an annoyance because they can puncture. Britax sidesteps this problem with their no-flat tires. The three all-terrain tires on the B-Free are rubber and you’ll never have to worry about your strolling being interrupted by a flat.

Canopy

The B-Free stroller has a large expandable canopy with 50+ UV protection. A canopy with sun protection is especially vital at the beginning of your baby’s life – infants shouldn’t wear sunscreen until they are 6 months old.

Britax Endeavours Car Seat

The Britax Endeavours Infant Car Seat is made for safety. One of its defining features is the anti-rebound bar. These bars are designed to sit against the seatback and prevent rebound movement of the car seat in the event of a wreck. Most car seats don’t offer this safety feature, so this is a unique trait.

The Endeavours car seat also offers double layers of side impact protection along with an impact-stabilizing steel frame.

Final Thoughts

If you want more safety than the average car seat provides, a travel system with the Endeavours car seat is ideal for you. Your infant will be cradled in the safety of the infant car seat while you get the convenience and ease of the B-Free stroller. Keep in mind though, due to its high quality, this is one of the priciest Britax travel systems.

Britax B-Lively Travel Systems

The Britax B-Lively with B-Safe 35 Infant Car Seat and B-Lively Travel System with B-Safe Ultra Car Seat are both safe, lightweight travel systems. The B-Safe Ultra seat also includes a European belt guide for more travel options.

The B-Lively, a best-selling Britax stroller, is also featured in two travel systems. You can get the B-Lively combined with the B-Safe 35 or the B-Safe Ultra infant car seat.

The Britax B-Lively with B-Safe 35 Infant Car Seat is a secure and safe travel system. The infant car seat, the B-Safe 35, has a weight capacity of 4 to 35 pounds or 32″ or less. The B-Lively stroller can be used up to 55 pounds.

The Experienced Mommy Video Review

Five-Point Harness

Much like a car seat, the stroller has a five-point harness. It attaches to the stroller five times: twice at the shoulder, twice at the hips, and once at the crotch buckle. This gives your child the most secure ride.

Linked Parking Brake

Often, strollers have two brake pedals, one for each wheel or set of wheels. When you need to put on the brakes, having to maneuver two pedals can be a time-waster. The B-Lively has a linked parking brake, meaning one pedal simultaneously locks both rear wheels.

Storage

liteway storage basket and recline adjustment

The storage basket at the bottom of the B-Lively stroller is extra-large, ensuring you have room for all the essentials. The calf rest also flips up to give front access to the basket.

This travel system includes the B-Safe 35 infant car seat. The B-Safe 35 is an upgrade of the B-Safe seat. The best features of this seat lie in its convenience. Of course, it’s safe, but it’s also easy to use, thanks to the LATCH system, the spring-assisted recline, and auto-level indicators.

Final Thoughts

You can’t go wrong with a B-Lively stroller. At only 20 pounds, it’s a lightweight stroller that will last you for years with a weight limit of 55 pounds. The B-Safe 35 is Britax’s most basic car seat offered currently. It won’t have the bells and whistles of the B-Safe Ultra or the Endeavors but it still offers the superior safety Britax is known for.

Having the B-Lively in common, the B-Lively Travel System with B-Safe Ultra Car Seat and the previous one have a lot in common. The difference lies in the included car seat. This system includes the B-Safe Ultra infant car seat. While the car seats are different, both have limits of 35 pounds or 32″.

Mesh Ventilated Canopy

With a beating sun, a stroller and its occupant can get surprisingly toasty under a canopy. The mesh ventilated canopy of the B-Lively stroller keeps your little one cool as you stroll along. The canopy also offers UV 50+ protection and has a quiet peekaboo window.

Lightweight

At only 20 pounds, the B-Lively is in the top three lightest Britax strollers. If you have to use public transportation or will find yourself carrying this stroller up flights of stairs, lighter is best. Carrying it is made even easier because of the included handle.

Storage

If you usually have a lot to carry, you’ll love the extra-large storage basket found on the B-Lively stroller. It also has front-access so your stuff is never out of reach.

Infinite Recline

With strollers, I always prefer an infinite recline. I don’t want to have set levels. Infinite recline gives options, like a flat setting for an afternoon doze, or a customizable recline so your baby has the best view.

B-Safe Ultra Car Seat

Price-wise, the B-Safe Ultra is Britax’s second most expensive infant car seat. The price is justified by the seat’s features though. For one, it has a quick-adjust harness, meaning no rethreading necessary. It has a European belt guide for the movers and shakers. It also has the safety features you expect, like double layers of side-impact protection and an impact-absorbing base.

Final Thoughts

This B-Lively travel system with the B-Safe Ultra car seat is perfect for most families but is especially nice for travelers. The stroller is lightweight enough to carry when needed. The car seat has a European belt guide, so your baby will be encased in Britax’s safety features even in ride-shares or taxis. Plus, the extra-large canopy and easy-to-remove cover mean you’re ready for any adventure that comes your way.

Britax Pathway Travel System with B-Safe 35 Infant Car Seat

The Britax Pathway Travel System with B-Safe 35 Infant Car Seat has more fun designs than the Britax B-Agile Travel System with B-Safe 35 Infant Car Seat or Britax B-Clever Travel System with B-Safe 35 Infant Car Seat. All three travel systems offer the most convenience with a one-hand fold.

The Britax Pathway Travel System with B-Safe 35 Infant Car Seat includes a lightweight four-wheel stroller and the beloved B-Safe 35 car seat. The Pathway stroller is suitable for newborn to 55 pounds. The B-Safe 35 is for newborn to 35 pounds.

Lightweight Design

The Pathway stroller has a lightweight aluminum frame, so carrying or pushing it is easy. It also has a one-hand fold and a compact profile for storage.

Storage

Speaking of storage, the stroller has plenty of it itself. The back of the stroller has a zippered storage pocket for your smaller valuables, while a diaper bag easily slides into the extra-large storage basket on the bottom.

Fun Patterns

The Pathway stroller is just as safe and high-quality as any other Britax offerings. The Pathway, though, comes in fun patterns and this gives it bonus points in my book. For example, the Connect style is a deep navy, with a green-and-white polka dot interior, while the Crew style is gray with a striped interior.

Swivel Front Wheels

The Pathway has a four-wheel design that allows for the stroller to have a smaller footprint in comparison to typical three-wheel strollers. The two front wheels swivel for easy maneuverability.

Car Seat

The B-Safe infant car seat is proudly engineered, tested, and manufactured in the United States. This engineering includes features an easy-release harness button, an ergonomic carrying handle, and removable head cushions.

Final Thoughts

The Britax Pathway is one of Britax’s more affordable stroller options. Because of this, a travel system including the Pathway might fit better into your budget. You save some cash on the stroller side, but you still get the SafeCell safety standards in the infant car seat with the B-Safe 35.

Britax B-Agile Travel System with B-Safe 35 Infant Car Seat

The Britax B-Agile Travel System with B-Safe 35 Infant Car Seat is a travel system designed to move. It includes a lightweight stroller and an infant car seat. The stroller is good from birth to 55 pounds. The car seat can be used until the child reaches 35 pounds.

Lightweight

Earlier, I discussed in detail the lightweight design of the B-Lively stroller. I mentioned that the stroller weighs 20 pounds, which is impressive in its own right. However, let’s bring it down even more. The B-Agile stroller only weighs 18 pounds! In a lot of cases, that’s lighter than your one-year-old!

One-Hand Fold

If one hand is occupied holding a baby on your hip, you only need your other hand to fold up the B-Agile stroller. It takes mere seconds! This stroller also has a frame lock so that it stays tight and compact in storage and through travel.

Mesh Ventilated Canopy

In warm temperatures, breathability is an important factor in a stroller. A canopy is another necessary feature in a stroller, to protect your child from the elements. The B-Agile combines these factors with a ventilated mesh canopy. Your little one will appreciate the nice breeze!

Five-Point Harness

If you’ve ever fumbled with adjusting a harness on a stroller (or a car seat!), you probably have frustrating flashbacks of it with every stroller ever. You need a five-point harness on your stroller, like on the B-Agile. It’s so much easier than the typical stroller setup – and the car seat is just as easy to adjust.

Car Seat

By this point in the list, you’re nearly an expert on the Britax B-Safe 35 infant car seat! The popular carrier is the second half in most Britax travel systems. In this particular system, the car seat includes Dual Comfort fabrics. This combines a moisture-wicking layer over a breathable fabric to keep your baby cool and dry through all strolls and rides.

Final Thoughts

The B-Agile gets all the accolades for its lightweight aluminum frame clocking in at only 18 pounds. You’ll certainly be agile without the extra weight. Likewise, the car seat’s Dual Comfort layers are a win. However, it appears that Britax is starting to move its B-Agile strollers into retirement, so keep that in mind if you’re worried about replacement parts.

Britax B-Clever Travel System with B-Safe 35 Infant Car Seat

The Britax B-Clever Travel System with B-Safe 35 Infant Car Seat is a packaged deal. Inside the box, you’ll find a stroller, a stroller tray, a car seat, a base, and car seat adapters. The car seat fits newborns to 35 pounds. The stroller can seat children up to 50 pounds.

One-Hand Fold

In motherhood, most things have to be done one-handed. Britax gets that and this stroller is another equipped with a one-hand fold mechanism. It’s easy to close and it stays standing when folded. Once folded, it’s the lightweight frame is easy to carry and store.

Child Tray

A fact about Britax: the company doesn’t tend to include child trays on their strollers. Strollers are easier to fold without such trays, after all. Still, sometimes you have to have that tray for snacks, am I right? Britax remedies this by selling trays separately.

You could skip that step with this travel system though. The B-Clever doesn’t normally come with a child tray but it does in this travel system. Consider it an awesome freebie.

Cool Flow Mesh Fabric

Keep your child cool with the B-Clever stroller outfitted with Cool Flow mesh fabric. A mesh seatback and ventilated sidewalls keep the stroller’s seating area ventilated and comfy.

Canopy

A large ventilated canopy gives your baby a cool and comfy ride, while a quiet magnetic peekaboo window gives you a quick view.

Multi-Position Recline

The stroller seat reclines into multiple positions, including a near-flat angle. The deep recline is perfect for naps, but the higher inclines are perfect for letting your little one sightsee.

Car Seat

We’ll be ending our last entry with another discussion of – you guessed it! – the B-Safe 35 infant car seat. Listen, there’s a reason Britax includes this seat in so many travel systems. It’s a fantastic car seat. With its SafeCell technology, it surpasses all safety standards.

Even better: if you get this travel system from Amazon, you get the B-Safe 35 car seat in the Cool Flow Mesh. It’s an Amazon exclusive style!

Final Thoughts

In comparison to other Britax travel systems, the B-Clever paired with the B-Safe 35 is an affordable option. Beyond price, I also like the lightweight and compact design of the B-Clever stroller. Plus, you just can’t beat that included child tray!

Britax Travel Systems Compared

The table below compares only the recommended products on this page. A low or high Price means it is low or high compared to the other products listed. The Popularity Score reflects how often readers click on and buy the product. The Quality Score is our assessment of the overall performance and satisfaction with the product compared to others in the table.

Britax Car Seats

The B-Safe 35, B-Safe Ultra, and Endeavors Seat support up to 35 pounds. The Endeavors Seat also includes an anti-rebound bar and European belt guide.

If this list has you reeling slightly, we can break it down just a bit more. For example, did a particular stroller stand out, but you aren’t sure of the car seat? Go ahead and mix and match!

All of the below infant car seats are travel system ready with the Britax Click and Go system, so feel free to make your own stroller and seat combination.

Britax B-Safe 35

The B-Safe 35 infant car seat was first released in 2014. It includes Britax’s patented SafeCell technology and has a simple installation system.

Side Impact Protection

With B-Safe car sets, there is a deep foam-lined shell. This surrounds your baby on both sides with protection that will protect them in the event of an accident.

Impact Absorbing Base

Along with the side impact protection in the seat, the base is also designed to protect. The base is impact-absorbing, meaning in a crash, it will compress to reduce the impact on your little one.

Infant Cushion and Harness Pads

The B-Safe 35 seat includes its own cushions and pads. The removable infant cushion is used in those fragile newborn days when your tiny baby needs a little more support. When they grow into their seat, the cushion is removed.

Did you know that aftermarket harness pads are not regulated? It’s true! To keep your child safe, you should not use any pads that are sold separately from the car seat. Luckily, this Britax seat includes plush and comfy (and safe!) harness pads.

Weight

The car seat on its own weighs 10 pounds. The base on its own weighs 9 pounds.

Britax B-Safe Ultra

The B-Safe Ultra was released in 2022 as an updated version of the B-Safe 35. It includes the same superior SafeCell technology the B-Safe line is known for, plus a few upgrades.

Steel Frame

A steel frame gives this car seat strength and stability. Many car seats stick with a basic plastic frame, which does pass minimum safety standards. However, steel goes above and beyond.

Quick-Adjust Harness

Have you ever had to rethread a car seat harness? I hope you have never experienced it! It’s a major pain – and a lot of infant car seats require it as your child grows.

The B-Safe Ultra does not, though. It features a quick-adjust harness that easily adjusts with your child to meet their height without any rethreading.

Extra-Large Canopy

On particularly sunny days, your baby will be so happy that you opted for an infant car seat with an extra-large canopy like the B-Safe Ultra. When combined with a stroller’s canopy, your baby can have a dark cozy cocoon on strolls.

Weight

The car seat itself weighs 11.5 pounds. With the base, the entire setup weighs 20.5 pounds.

Britax Endeavors

The Endeavors seat has all the bells and whistles you could want in an infant car seat. Like all Britax seats, this infant carrier goes beyond expectations.

Anti-Rebound Bar

Historically, anti-rebound bars weren’t included on American car seats. They were always more popular with our international neighbors. However, US manufacturers are now catching on to their safety significance and we are seeing them more and more.

The Endeavors is the only Britax car seat to currently include an anti-rebound bar.

European Belt Guide

The European Belt Guide, as you can assume, is more common in Europe than in the United States. The Endeavors seat brings this European convenience to Britax products.

The belt guide in question is a way to install an infant car seat without a base because it only requires the seat belt. This feature makes it compatible for use in rideshares or any other situation where the base is not with you.

Easy-to-Remove Cover

If you have ever wrestled the cover off a car seat, you know very well how frustrating it is. The Endeavors car seat was designed with a cover that was easy to remove because we all know car seats need a good cleaning every now and then.

Plush Padding

When placing your tiny newborn in a car seat, your first thought is about safety. Your second thought, though, maybe how comfortable they are. You won’t be concerned about their comfort in the Endeavors seat though. The seat is lined in plush foam padding that cradles your baby.

Weight

The car seat by itself weighs 11.5 pounds. The seat’s base weighs 11 pounds on its own.

Britax Travel Systems vs. Chicco Travel Systems

Price

In nearly all comparisons, Chicco travel systems are priced lower than Britax ones. Even the base Britax travel system is pricier than the base Chicco system.

Features

So, Chicco travel systems do include a parent tray on the strollers. Some even have a zippered pocket on the tray for securing belongings. Britax is lacking in this area.

But, that parent tray comes at a price. With the tray sticking out awkwardly, Chicco strollers can’t exactly achieve a slim profile when folded. It’s a bit awkward to carry as well.

Chicco Viaro Travel System, Techna Britax B-Agile Lightweight Stroller, Black | One Hand Fold + Easy to Maneuver + Large UV50+ Canopy

Notably, Chicco also has a system with a lightweight stroller that converts to a frame stroller. A feature like that is important to some parents.

However, the infant car seat category is where Britax blows Chicco out of the water. While the brands’ strollers are relatively comparable, Britax has the superior car seat.

Firstly, Britax car seats exceed safety standards. It’s the industry leader in car safety technology due to its commitment to keeping baby passengers safe.

Secondly, when it comes to weight limits, Chicco infant seats lose. For example, the base Chicco seat, the Keyfit 30 has a maximum capacity of 30 pounds, while the Britax seats allow your child to rear face until 35 pounds (and longer rear-facing is recommended). It’s a small weight difference, but that additional 5 pounds could mean another year for some toddlers.

Britax Travel Systems vs. Maxi Cosi Travel Systems

Price

In the price category, Britax and Maxi Cosi systems are evenly matched. Their base systems start at the same price point and both brands have increasingly more expensive (and more upgraded) systems, all at similar prices.

Features

If not the price, what makes someone choose a Britax over a Maxi Cosi system? It comes down to the included features of each brand.

Maxi-Cosi does have options that Britax does not offer. For example, the Maxi-Cosi Zelia 5-In-1 Modular Travel System offers a bassinet attachment along with a car seat. The stroller also allows the child to rear or forward-face in the bassinet, carrier, or normal stroller mode.

Additional features aside, many customers don’t find Maxi-Cosi systems very user-friendly. Negative reviews point out that Maxi-Cosi stroller wheels are difficult to maneuver and have been known to lock up.

Some customers have also found attaching and detaching the infant car seat to Maxi-Cosi strollers to be a challenge. Britax systems do include the Click and Go system, which makes the process a smooth one.

FAQs About Britax Travel Systems

Is Britax a good brand?

Absolutely! Let’s take it on looks alone to begin. Britax creates stylish and modern baby products. A Britax stroller is bound to turn some heads as you stroll the streets.

When it comes to your baby though, looks aren’t the most important thing. Safety is and Britax has safety features in spades.

Britax’s own promotional materials claim they are on a “never-ending mission” to make car seats as safe as they can be. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration requires car seats to go through a certain number of safety tests – Britax does twice that amount of testing.

You can’t beat the protection of the brand’s SafeCell technology and additional features like the anti-rebound bar. Britax designs their car seats with a lower center of gravity than other seats in order to grant more stability in the event of a crash.

Britax car seats are also reinforced with steel frames that reduce forward flexing during a crash. The aforementioned SafeCell technology compresses the seat’s base in an impact, which further lowers the center of gravity and minimizes the movement of the seat.

All of Britax’s specially-engineered features make it more than a “good” brand – it’s a great one!

Why is Britax so expensive?

“Expensive” is a subjective term, all things considered. Generally speaking, Britax is closer to a mid-range price point. There are brands that run cheaper than Britax, like Graco or Chicco.

Still, there are numerous brands significantly more expensive. Namely, there are brands like Nuna and Clek, prices of which can be double the price of a Britax product.

As to why Britax hits its particular price point, it’s all about quality. This brand creates products using high-quality materials, like the steel in the car seat frame or the plush premium fabrics in the strollers. Also, check out all the safety features mentioned in the previous answer!

Who makes better travel systems, Britax or Maxi-Cosi?

A question like this comes down to your and your family’s particular needs. In terms of price, both brand’s travel systems are comparable.

Between the two brands, the features differ. For example, Britax does not offer a jogging stroller (check out BOB for that!), but Maxi-Cosi does and does include it in a travel system.

For more information on these two brands, be sure to revisit the previous section!

What should I look for in a travel system?

Like the last question, this comes down to what you personally need. The purpose of travel systems is to simplify your life by combining infant car seats with strollers.

Beyond the obvious combination, the right travel system is the one that further simplifies your life. Perhaps a lightweight stroller that is easy to carry would make your life easier. On the other hand, maybe that included child tray would rock your world (I realize I keep going back to that child tray, but my kid’s a snacker).

Features that will be important to one parent won’t be to another. For example, I live in an area that isn’t exactly public transportation-friendly, so the European Belt Guides on some Britax car seats doesn’t do it for me. Meanwhile, that means I’m often folding a stroller to store in my car trunk so a one-hand fold is majorly important.

Top Choice for Britax Travel Systems

Of the seven Britax travel systems listed above, there is one I’d choose above the others. The winner, in my humble opinion, is the B-Lively travel system with the B-Safe Ultra infant car seat. A close second? The B-Free travel system with the Endeavors infant car seat.

If the B-Free system is a close second, why didn’t it win? After all, it has the most advanced infant car seat, considering the anti-rebound bar. As much as I do appreciate that anti-rebound bar, it comes down to price. The B-Lively has “must-haves” at a significantly lower price point.

Not concerned about your budget? Then go for the B-Free system, mama!

If you aren’t sure which travel system is right for you, try making a list of the features you have to have and go from there. If you’re feeling overwhelmed and would rather review individual Britax car seats and strollers separately, check out our previous guides!
