Graco Grows4Me 4-in-1 Car Seat Review

Babies seem to grow daily, and getting gear that can accommodate them for years is often very difficult. That is, until the freshly-updated Graco Grows4Me Car Seat! This amazing car seat grows with your child from birth to big kid.

Truthfully, with this updated adjustable seat, it may be the only one you ever need for your child.

Grow4Me Features

Design

This 4-in-1 car seat will surely last until your child is able to properly sit in your car restraint system. It transitions from a five-point, rear-facing harness (5lbs-40lbs) to a forward-facing harness (22lbs-65lbs), then to highback booster (40lbs-100lbs) and finally, to a backless booster seat (40lbs-110lbs).

The harness and headrest easily adjust together, eliminating the need for un-threading and re-threading the belts as your child grows. With ten positions for the headrest and six reclining positions, your child will be sitting in the lap of luxury no matter how far you are traveling.

Safety

For additional protection, the seat is steel-reinforced and will securely cradle your little one and stand up to the wear and tear of climbing in and out of the car. Of course, it also has the gold-standard LATCH system to tether the car seat quickly, easily, and securely to your vehicle. And when you are done with the straps, you can conveniently store them in the Integrated Harness Storage Compartment for safekeeping.

If you are looking for a “one and done” car seat that meets top safety standards, has convenient features that make it simple to adjust and use, this is the car seat you need. Graco is a reputable name in baby gear and though the initial cost is significant, it will even out in the end when you only have to buy the one car seat to get ten years of use. Graco also typically does extensive crash testing on their car seats to ensure they are safe for those unexpected incidents.

Growing concerns with child safety have dictated a need to keep children in car seats longer. New recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics state that children should remain rear-facing until they outgrow the rear-facing capability of the car seat, usually at two years old or older.

Recommendations also say to keep kids in a forward-facing five-point harness until they outgrow the manufacturer recommendations, usually, once they reach 65lbs or more.

And finally, children need a belt-positioning booster seat until they are at least 4’9″ and the car’s lap and shoulder belts fit properly and they pass the five-step test (below). These are usually met between the ages of 10-12 years of age.

  1. Can the child sit all the way back against the car’s seat?
  2. Do the knees bend comfortably over the edge of the seat?
  3. Does the lap belt rest below the belly, touching the top of the child’s thighs?
  4. Is the shoulder belt centered across the shoulder and chest? NOT across the neck?
  5. Can your child stay seated like this for the entirety of the trip?

If the answer to any of these questions is no, then your child likely still needs to be in a car seat. Follow these guidelines to keep your child as safe as possible for as long as you can.

With this seat, you will never have to worry that your child is fully safe and protected in the back seat. You can drive with peace of mind, knowing your child is safe and secure.

Graco Grow4Me vs Graco 4Ever

If you are familiar with the line of Graco car seats, you may be thinking the Grow4Me sounds a lot like the Graco 4Ever and Graco 4Ever Extend2Fit. And you would be correct. The features on all three seats are very similar. In fact, there are few differences that stand out at this point.

Of course, one of the key selling points of the Extend2Fit is the additional five inches of legroom on this seat, as stated in our review. This is great for accommodating children for longer periods and also helps children with long legs feel more comfortable while in the car, especially on road trips.

One benefit of the Grow4Me car seat is that it comes in at about $40 less than the Extend2Fit. When you are welcoming a new baby, every penny counts and saving money can be a high priority for many families.
