The 6 Best Twin Baby Carrier Choices

Stuff 4 Multiples Twingaroo Twin Carrier

TwinGo Original Baby Carrier (Black, Blue & Orange)

A carrier that can be used as both a twin carrier and a single carrier is a wise purchase. The Twingaroo Twin Carrier can be used in 3 different ways: one baby on the front, one baby on the back, or one back on the front and one baby on the back. Carry one baby, carry both babies, and still have a versatile option for any future babies.

And while that’s all good and well, it gets even better. This carrier has a built-in diaper bag. Yep, you heard correctly. Because think about it: you’ve got two babies in tow, so where in the world would you even put a diaper bag?! The back child seat is also a diaper bag, complete with 2 insulated bottle holders and 2 compartments, one for each baby’s things.

The rear-carrier and diaper bag is one piece, and the front carrier is a separate piece. So if you choose to use them separately, you don’t have to worry about added bulk. Or, dad can take one kid in one carrier and mom can take the other kid in the other carrier. And if you use them together, which is kind of the main point here, you just click them all securely together and go about your day.

Other features to love are the 100% cotton build for good breathability, more storage in the form of a front zipper pouch, and a thick bottom belt that offers great support and weight distribution. This is made for babies that weigh between 10 and 35 pounds each.

TwinGo Original Baby Carrier

TwinGo Original Baby Carrier (Black, Blue & Orange)

This genius carrier was designed by a mom of twins, so you know it’s gonna be good. Just like the Twingaroo, the TwinGo Original Baby Carrier eliminates the need to buy two of everything. Just buy this baby carrier and use it as one twin carrier or two single carriers.

You can use the front carrier alone, the back carrier alone, or use them combined as a double baby carrier. Just add the extra set of straps if you want the other parent to wear the other carrier and you’ll be good to go. This carrier is made for babies from 10 pounds up to 35 pounds in the tandem carrier, or 45 pounds in the single carrier. Buy the TwinGo Infant Insert and you can use this carrier even earlier, starting at just 7 pounds.

Each TwinGo carrier is fully adjustable to different size settings from XS to XL using 8 different adjustment zones, which means that it won’t be too big for a petite momma or too small for a big dad. You’ll also find thick shoulder straps, a bottom band with lumbar support, and durable plastic clips and buckles.

This soft structured baby carrier for twins also offers great storage in the form of 2 big, reversible pockets. These can be filled with diapers, snacks, or whatever else your day calls for. You can also detach them and use them as a travel bag to store the baby carriers themselves!

The two things that really set this carrier apart are the ergonomic design and the cotton hood. You must get a carrier that keeps baby’s hips and spine in a safe and healthy position, and having the option of a hood can help you to nurse your baby discreetly or shield them from the sun.

Boba Wrap Baby Carrier

Boba Wrap Baby Carrier, Grey - Original Stretchy Infant Sling, Perfect for Newborn Babies and Children up to 35 lbs

Strictly speaking, this isn’t exactly a baby carrier for twins. It’s more or less a top-rated wrap baby carrier that can be used for twins. That’s because the Boba Wrap Baby Carrier has stretch and flexibility to hold both your babies at once.

The Boba is well-loved because it is (Trump voice) huge. It’s approximately 5.5 yards or 16.5 feet of fabric. But before you get overwhelmed, just think about the number of ways you could wrap that and how much support it could provide.

The stretchiness of the 95% cotton and spandex French Terry material is fabulous. It’s breathable! It has 4-way stretch to fit any mom and baby, especially bigger or taller moms. And it’s machine washable for all those accidents that you’ll be getting a double portion of.

Oh, and it’s officially a Hip Healthy Baby Carrier according to the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. Thanks, ergonomic design!

And that’s about all there is to say here! I have and love one of these. It’s a lot of fabric and you have to memorize how to wrap it, but it’s so comfortable and perfect for newborns. It’s even great for nursing.

Here’s just one way to carry twins in the Boba Wrap:

Baby K’Tan Original Baby Wrap Carrier

Baby K'tan Original Baby Wrap Carrier, Infant and Child Sling - Simple Wrap Holder for Babywearing - No Rings or Buckles - Carry Newborn up to 35 lbs, Black, Women 6-8 (Small), Men 37-38

This is one of the simplest baby carriers out there: no straps, no buckles, no wrapping, and nothing hard or confusing. Just pull it on like a t-shirt and be on your way! The Baby K’Tan Original Baby Wrap Carrier is soft, convenient, and it can be used for twins.

All you have to do is pick your pre-pregnancy clothing size and order the wrap. The perk here is that it will fit you like a glove, and you’ll love the gentle stretch of the jersey knit cotton. The downside here is that if you end up wanting a wrap for your partner to use, you’ll likely have to order them their own since you can’t adjust the size.

This wrap carrier has breathability, and the double loop design gives baby good support while keeping hips in proper alignment. There’s also a carrying bag that converts to a support sash, which you’ll definitely want to use if you are carrying twins around.

Now, it’s important to note that Baby K’Tan doesn’t officially condone using this for twins on their website, “per the Baby Carrier Industry Standards which state that baby carriers should only be used for one infant at a time. ”

But some moms have successfully (and safely) used this wrap for twin newborns. You can snuggle one in a sling position on each side. After about 10 pounds for each baby, this probably wouldn’t be supportive enough.

Hip Baby Ring Sling Carrier

Hip Baby Wrap Ring Sling Baby Carrier for Infants and Toddlers (Summer Rainbow)

The high-quality, hand-woven cotton fabric of the Hip Baby Ring Sling Carrier gives you the support you need for carrying two babies at once. You can get the fun fabrics in every color under the sun (except the basics like black, white, and gray).

While it might seem like a lot of fabric, you can read just one review and find out that the fabric is lightweight and breathable and there’s just enough of it to support your kiddos. Plus, ring slings make a great nursing cover.

The aluminum ring makes adjusting this carrier so easy – just pull to your desired tightness and make sure the fabric is secure. You can use this for kangaroo carrying or hip carrying, even with twins. And if you feel confused by the whole ring securing method, just peruse YouTube for how-to videos. They help a lot!

Ring slings give you some options when using them for twins. You can use two ring slings, one for each baby, or you can tandem wear in a ring sling. Many twin moms like the ease of use that a ring sling brings, and many share that it’s the easiest way to babywear your babies.

Malishastik Twin Baby Carrier

Image of the Malishastik Twin Baby Carrier

The Malishastik Twin Baby Carrier is another good carrier option if you have twins. I’ve got this one at the bottom of the list for 2 big reasons: it’s harder to use and it’s simply not as nice as the other options. But here’s a bit about this carrier.

This Ukranian carrier has two seats for 2 babies, from 10 pounds up to 35 pounds each. The babies can face inward only, but the seat keeps their hips in that great ergonomic position. This carrier works well with older babies, about 4 months or older simply because of the large size of the whole carrier system.

The thing to note here is that the babies can be held on the hip, as well as the tandem position. For many moms, one baby on each side is more comfortable and they like being able to see both babies. For others, they might not like the difficulty in navigating doorways with a baby on each side and prefer to have one in front and one on back.

Like I said, this carrier isn’t as user-friendly. It comes with the 2 separate carriers and an extra set of shoulder straps and instructions. But you have to figure it out from there, which takes a few minutes because the straps and buckles are confusing.

Here are the two ways to wear, which as you can see still take a few minutes to get set up even when you know what you are doing.

The other thing here is that while there are thick straps and buckles for support, there is no storage or other extras. Personally, I’m okay with that, considering the much-lower price of this carrier.

FAQs About Twin Baby Carriers

What type of carrier is best for twins?

A safe one! You have 3 basic options when it comes to a baby carrier for twins:

  1. Structured baby carriers
  2. Wrap baby carriers
  3. Ring sling baby carriers

The perk of using a structured baby carrier is that it offers more support for carrying 2 babies at once. The downside is that it often can’t be used for newborns and small babies.

Wrap baby carriers and ring slings offer the option to carry or cuddle 2 newborn babies, but it can be a bit trickier to get the fit just right. These soft carriers also have the benefit of having multiple ways to wrap and carry your babies, depending on what your babies like and what you need.

Can I just buy a couple of single carriers and put one on the front and one on the back?

Only if the product is made for that, like a lot of the baby carriers that we’ve reviewed above.

Some parents will opt for buying 2 lightweight best baby carriers and buckle them in at the same time. This can be uncomfortable and dangerous, so proceed with caution.

Are there different ways to carry twins?

This depends on what type of carrier you are using.

Tandem baby carriers really only allow you to carry one on the back and one on the front.

Wrap and sling carriers can allow you more versatility, such as wearing both babies in front or one on each hip. Some wraps might also allow for tandem babywearing, with one in front and one in back.

Is it safe to babywear twins?

Yes! You can safely wear both your infant twins at the same time. You just have to be a bit more cautious. The CPSC has updated guidelines on baby carrier and babywearing safety, so be sure to follow all their suggestions, such as:

  • Reading the updated warning labels
  • Ensuring the product works properly
  • Making sure both you can see both baby’s faces at all times
  • Checking to make sure the airways are clear at all times
  • Positioning each baby so that their head is facing up and is supported

Final Thoughts

Just because you have twins doesn’t mean that you can’t babywear them! You can pick any of the baby carrier for twins options on this list and comfortably and safely take your twins with you anywhere you need to go.

My recommendation for the best twin baby carrier is either the TwinGo Carrier or the Hip Baby Ring Sling. Depending on whether you want a structured carrier or a wrap carrier, I feel that these two options offer the most versatility, quality, and convenience when tandem carrying twins.
