Practically every baby brand has put out a Pack ‘N Play for babies and all of them come with so many newfangled extras. We have our best picks to meet many different needs, including options for larger or smaller playards as well as ones for twins, traveling, and newborn care.
Best Pack ‘N Plays and Playards
The more expensive Delta Safari Fun is a square pack ‘n play at 36″ x 36,” which is perfect for naps but not for playtime; whereas the less expensive, rectangle playard Cosco Funsport offers more length but not as much width space at 40.2″ x 30″ x 28.2.”

The Good
As with all playards, your child can safely use this Pack ‘N Play up to 30 lbs and up to 35 inches tall.
Also, this one includes a mattress for sturdiness and a storage bag for storing or traveling. This one is not lightweight though, at 28.6 pounds. Maybe keep this one in one place as that’s heavy especially if you have a toddler or infant in tow.
You will be happy to know this is JPMA certified to meet or exceed all safety standards set by the CPSC & ASTM.
Finally, if you need to wash this playard (you know this will become part of your regular schedule) spot clean only. Use baby wipes for quick cleans and all-purpose spray for killing bacteria.
The Bad
Only two complaints come with this portable crib.
First, the padding is a bit thin. This mattress pad for square playards could make the Pack ‘N Play more comfortable and hypoallergenic for your baby too.
Second, the folding mechanisms do not always cooperate. A tiny drop of WD40 on the joints may help with this issue, but make sure to clean excess spray off the fabric, as you do not want baby licking that stuff.

What’s Special About This Pack ‘N Play
What’s special about this playard is the lack of extras, because sometimes, if it’s not broken, don’t fix it. Playards serve the purpose of a safe place to keep your non-climbing baby or toddler. A great piece of furniture to keep in the living room or in a back room, near the family but not able to cause trouble.
Lots of moms have already purchased or been given the gift of a changing table, the best bassinet, and all the other furniture. A Pack ‘N Play with all the bells and whistles would just be overkill.
Besides, if this isn’t baby number one, you already know all that extra stuff is done being useful long before you are done paying off the purchase on your credit card.
The Good
What’s so great about a simple playard with no extras? It’s lightweight for one. Second, it’s easy to move. Take this into the kitchen or the dining room, or even the laundry room so you can catch up on socks (or cheat and buy new socks instead).
Next, setup is easy-peasy, taking less than a minute. Graco’s Pack ‘N Play claims to be easy to put together, but we seasoned moms remember the struggle.
The playard sports a shiny pair of wheels to move the Pack ‘N Play around with ease. Okay, the wheels aren’t really shiny, more of a matte finish.
As expected, the Pack ‘N Play includes a storage container bag for easy travel or storage.
Finally, air ventilating mesh surrounds the entire playard.
The Bad
A few complaints rolled in stating this Pack ‘N Play mat is anything but comfortable and comes with more than the three creases you find in other playards.
When brand new, the Pack ‘N Play crib can smell funky like chemicals. Sorry, my friends, plastic can smell strange. Let the playard air out for a while before using and do not spray with anything. If you want, clean with a mixture of apple cider vinegar and water to help reduce the smell. Or it may just smell like a chemical plant next to a vinegar distillery.
Finally, some customers experienced a gap between the mat and the base.
Best Pack ‘N Plays with Bassinet
The Graco Travel Dome is a mid-priced option that has the unique feature of having a portable bassinet that includes a mesh canopy dome for sun and insect protection outdoors; whereas the similar but slightly more expensiveGraco Playard with Portable Seat has a bassinet that turns into an infant seat. The least expensive pack ‘n play, Baby Trend Lil Snooze has the same features of the Graco pack ‘n plays but the bassinet is simply a bassinet without a secondary usage.
4moms Breeze Plus Portable Playard
Mothers across America will rejoice! The 4moms Breeze Plus portable playard is the easiest playard to fold or unfold ever.
The 4Moms company came about to dramatically improve juvenile furniture and it looks like they have reached their goal with their Breeze Pack ‘N Play. The company offers three playards. The one pictured above is the Breeze Plus which includes a changing station and bassinet.
What’s Special About This Pack ‘N Play
The main difference between this Pack ‘N Play and others is the ease of opening or closing.
If you have never used a Pack ‘N Play, I will explain the process. For those of you who have battled Pack ‘N Plays, move to the next section as this description may trigger anger and annoyance.
- First, remove the play mat and place it out of the way. This might be as simple as removing the playmat and placing it on the floor unless the mat is velcroed into place. then you have to reach under, remove the velcro, then remove the mat.
- Next, you need to push the middle stabilizer up, this is under the mat and on the floor. This makes the Pack ‘N Play wobbly but also makes it so the sidebars will come down.
- After all that, it’s time for the real battle. Sidebars versus All Moms Ever. Start with the wobbly Pack ‘N Play tucked by your legs for some fake support. Through the fabric, feel around on one of the two smaller sides for the push button or release function and then push up and then down. If it behaves. Do this to the other short side. Now, you move on to the two large sides. It may or may not work on both sides. One side may develop a stubborn nature. All the while, the legs are scratching up your floor, your shins, and the nail polish on your big toe. This has happened.
- You’re not done yet. Now balance the folded-up playard against your body while wrapping the playmat around the body and latching the velcro around to keep it in place.
- I’m not even going to get into the struggle of shoving the whole playard into the bag. The memory is too traumatizing. Please use your imagination from here on.
The Good
Now that you know the struggle, let me reiterate: this playard is a one-push open and one pull close. Let the information sink in.
The sides offer full visibility to keep baby appraised of his surroundings.
There is a mattress pad on this Pack ‘N Play and by necessity, the Pack ‘N Play is larger than other standard models but not to the extent of the Joovy.
The bassinet and changer units on top are nice and deep. They are also removable. One advantage of these bassinets, in general, is that you don’t have to bend over as far to pick up baby.
Also, the playmat does velcro to the base, but on the outside, so removal is easier. You can purchase extra sheets for the playmat. It’s great to have one in the crib and one to wash. Some days you may even want three.
Finally, the playard’s simple design will not obstruct the room it’s in or the decor. A simple classic look with clean lines.
The Bad
The inside of the playard does have a few slightly sharp points in the corners, but should not harm your child as they are rounded off and point inward toward the cushioning.
One minor issue is the lack of wheels to easily change the position of the Pack ‘N Play.
The price is about the only other issue that could be a deterrent for mothers wishing to purchase.
Graco Pack ‘n Play Travel Dome LX Playard
Graco often produces the most useful baby products and their playards are fabulous. Their best is the Graco Pack ‘n Play Travel Dome LX Playard. Packed full of unique features, you will love a playard that is useful from day one of your baby’s life.
Babies tend to need a lot of furniture that only maintains its usefulness for the first year or two. This Pack ‘N Play will last up to three, depending on how precocious your child is with climbing.
My first child began climbing out of stuff at nine months old. My middle child never tried, and the youngest got the others to pull her out! Once your baby can climb, a playard mainly becomes a place for napping during travel. Still useful but no longer something to keep baby out of trouble.
What’s Special About This Pack ‘N Play
The travel dome is a unique feature of this set. Take it off and uses it away from the playard or use it on the playard for easy sight lines. It can even go outside, in the bathroom, or anywhere else to help you keep easy tabs on your baby.
Moreover, the dome includes meshing for breathability and ease of sight along with a full canopy for protection from the sun.
The changing table is the next best feature on this Pack ‘N Play. Not to mention a little side storage caddy for storing diapers, wipes, diaper rash cream, or cornstarch for sensitive-skinned babies.
If you need the travel dome in another room, use the built-in napper too for younger babies. Once your baby can sit up on their own, take it out and use the regular playard.
The Good
All of the features above make this an excellent buy and all for a very reasonable price.
Here is an overview of the features. As already discussed above, the playard includes a removable changing table and travel dome. The dome even has an overhead toy bar with detachable soft toys and extra cushioning.
If you take out the dome and the changing table, you will find a built-in napper taking up the entire playard. Do you know what that means? You can use this as a sort-of side sleeper in your bedroom. The baby is easier to reach for nighttime nursing sessions. Do remember though, do not use once a baby can sit up on their own.
The playard, of course, functions as a playard once your baby is old enough.
Let’s go back to the newborn mode for a moment though. Furthermore, the playard comes on wheels so you can wheel the whole thing around with ease.
For more storage, put diapers and wipes in the outer storage cubby. Next, each side of the Pack ‘N Play offers full ventilation with mesh.
Also, the entire playard folds down with one button ready to store in a convenient storage bag. The travel dome gets its own storage bag making it extra useful for those first few months of your baby’s life.
The Bad
The dome may not be as useful as advertised. While it offers structure and the ability to remove, it’s only useful for about four months. However, those first four months are the hardest.
The added components to make it more comfortable and useful for the newborn stage are added pieces you will need to store. If you already have a changing table, a bassinet, and storage, then none of these components will be necessary. If you travel a lot or have a low budget, this could be your all in one.
Next, many customers complained this Pack ‘N Play is a pain to put together. The struggle is real. I had a Graco and while it was incredibly useful, tearing it down and setting it up again set my teeth on edge.
Lastly, the added components do not fit into the storage container. While the travel dome comes with its own storage bag, it’s just one more thing to keep track of.
The Graco Pack ‘n Play Travel Dome LX Playard is a close sibling to the playard above. The only difference is instead of the baby changer and newborn napper being separate, they are once piece that flips over and can even be taken of and used separately. It’s a valuable addition but more useful as your only baby furniture and for the first four months.

This Pack ‘N Play features a diaper changer with storage. It also has a removable seat with 2 vibration settings, a newborn head support pillow, a safety harness, and a generous canopy.
There is a raised bassinet on this playard. It sits on top of the main play area and puts baby at eye level for easy room sharing when at home or when traveling. If you prefer, it can be dropped into the playard to become a crib-level bassinet.

For toddlers, it can be used as a traditional playard and as a travel cot. The bassinet attachment has a bottom panel that folds out to make it a toddler travel cot.
Next, the wheels on one side allow for easy repositioning. Finally, the Pack ‘N Play folds up using Graco’s push-button fold and includes a storage bag.
The Bad
Most of the infant attachments work only until baby is 15 pounds, which for some babies, will happen in the first 3 months!
Also, the white fabric of the portable seat is just waiting to get filthy, and fast. I think a darker color would have been better.
Finally, the instructions aren’t as detailed as others. You have to figure it out, but once you do, the setup and break-down is pretty easy.
Chicco Lullaby Playard
At first glance, this probably doesn’t look like a very fancy Pack ‘N Play. But the Chicco Lullaby Playard has more going for it as a travel sleeper than most other options on this list.
If safe and comfortable sleep for your baby is the primary use of a Pack ‘N Play for you, then this is a great option for your family. But it can serve other uses, like a diaper changing center and a playard, too.
What’s Special About This Pack ‘N Play
The snap-on changer makes this a special playard. Moreover, the changer folds out of the way to have full access to the two inner levels. It’s even washable, the changer, with easy to clean vinyl cover and storage for diapers and supplies.
The Good
The bassinet is the first mode for the Chicco Lullaby. It features a mesh mattress and sides that are breathable to help your baby stay at a safe temperature while sleeping. The mesh is cotton, so it’s still comfortable for the baby to lay against. The bassinet is for babies 15 pounds or smaller while the changer can support 25 pounds and the playard 30 pounds.
Next, it becomes a portable playard. The sides and bottom feature mesh for safe play and sleep. Because it’s so breathable, it’s perfect for using outdoors when the weather is hot. This supports baby until they reach 30 pounds.
The next use is the cot, which is essentially the mesh mattress on raised legs. Think the Pack ‘N Play, but without the sides. Additionally, wheels on one side make this very easy to move around the home. The entire Pack ‘N Play playard can be folded up and placed in the carrying case.
The Bad
The playard works perfectly without any issues. That’s rare to find in a playard, although you may spend a little more money than other brands. However, the playard does run heavy at 31 pounds making it quite heavy but the wheels do help to reduce how much you have to carry.
Although, packing this in the car may be a bit more difficult or taking it to the beach or somewhere else. For those who want a travel playard, consider the Chicco Alfa Lite Lightweight Travel Playard. It does not have a changing table but it only ways 12.5 pounds making it less than half the weight of the Lullaby.

This playard shares a few similarities with the Graco playard at number 1, but with a more affordable price tag for those with a lower budget. One similarity is the ability of this Pack ‘N Play bassinet combo to serve as an all-in-one infant center for changing, napping, serving as a bedside co-sleeper, all before turning into a regular Pack ‘N Play.
With so many features, purchasing a crib, changing table, and bassinet pretty much become obsolete making this even more bang for your buck.

I already told you all about the changer but did not mention the external storage spot for diapers and wipes.
Next, you will love the newborn napper to keep your newborn nearby comfortably. As to be expected, the napper and changing table will only work for about the first three months of your baby’s life. The napper is removable once your baby outgrows the little bed with a canopy and two plush toys. Then you can use the infant napper for babies who cannot sit up on their own. Once your baby is more mobile, move the mattress pad down to the bottom of the Pack ‘N Play to allow full access and room to play.
All the typical features are included.
First, it includes full mesh sides.
Next, the playard completely folds down and includes a storage bag for travel or storing out of the way. The bottom has wheels on one side for easy repositioning and brakes to make sure older siblings do not try and push the baby around in the pack and play.
Finally, this playard is a little bit deeper than other brands, meaning it will last a little longer before your little one can climb out.
The Bad
As with all playards, this one can be difficult to set up. The secret is to push in the smaller sides first and then the larger sides after. If you try to do the larger sides first you will run into issues.
Otherwise, this playard comes with almost no complaints. However, if you wanted the sound and vibration bar like on the Graco model you’re out of luck.
Best Pack ‘N Play for Travel
These two travel cribs are similar, especially in Amazon ratings, however, the less expensive Lotus Travel Crib is a 3D foldable crib that fits into the enclosed backpack for easier travel plus it can be checked at the airport gate. The more expensive BabyBjörn Travel Crib Light offers easy set-up and fold down, yet it will need to be checked at the airport with your luggage as it is slightly bigger and bulkier.

Anyone who has traveled with a baby will know the struggle. Traveling with an infant requires a moving truck just to go to a friend’s house for the afternoon! This playard takes away the need to pack up every bit of baby stuff in your house. Anything to make adventures into the world is a major plus for parents.

Lastly, the mini Pack ‘N Play includes the mattress to give a baby a good night’s sleep.
The playard will serve you for years to come for multiple babies and make a great addition to your travel plans.
The Bad
The zipper can stick for some customers. Spray a little WD-40 on it for lubricant and the problem should correct itself. You can also try these tricks.
Next, the company sacrificed a thicker mattress for travel. Most babies do not need as much padding as adults. Honestly, they became quite accustomed to small tight spaces. The reason so many options exist is that one playard will work for some folks and others will need a completely different option.
For those on the road often, the travel qualities will appeal despite the flaws as all playards have a flaw somewhere.
Finally, the price is a bit expensive but not out of the realm of possibility.

The BabyBjorn Travel Crib Light kind of looks like the Lotus playard, but with a couple of added bonuses. BabyBjorn makes quality, safe baby items that are user-friendly and sleek, and this travel Pack ‘N Play is no exception.
What’s Special About This Pack ‘N Play
This is special because it’s a pop-up playard. That means no taking it apart and putting it back together when you travel. Just open up the frame, lock it into place, and place the mattress in the bottom to create a sturdy and secure Pack ‘N Play crib.
Since it’s JPMA certified, you know that it’s safe and won’t fail you.
Plus, you can’t beat the fact that the breathable mesh fabric is all totally washable, just in case it gets so dirty that a good wipe down just won’t do.
The Good
The pop-up playard feature is a great option because most other playards out there make you detach the legs in order to transport. But the pop-up fun isn’t all this Pack ‘N Play has to offer.

And underneath the mattress is a solid baseplate, so you don’t have to worry about the mattress laying at an angle or having sagging parts, which could create a safety issue. The mattress is kept in place with hook and loop closures.
This lightweight travel crib is only 13 pounds! That’s nothing! And it all folds down into a nice, compact square to go into the handy travel bag.
And when you are traveling with this Pack ‘N Play, you can be sure that it’s a safe place for baby no matter where you go. It sits securely on the ground and has 4 strong legs, plus the top frame and bottom base plate.
The mesh polyester fabric sides allow you to both see baby and to know that they can’t roll up against the side and suffocate during the night. And, those fabrics are Oeko-Tex Standard 100, class 1 certified for babies. That means that those machine-washable fabrics, including the waterproof mattress cover, are just about as safe as you can get.
The Bad
While it does fold up nice and small, this won’t fit in the overhead compartment of most airplanes, so plan to pack it separately in your luggage. It can’t be a carry-on.
Because the legs are at an angle, the top opening is a bit smaller and the inside space is cramped compared to a traditional Pack ‘N Play.
Also, the set-up of this pack and play makes it a better choice for older babies and toddlers, not for newborns. It is downright difficult and honestly a little strange to lay a newborn down on the ground to sleep, even knowing that it’s so safe in there. And you have to fold in half over the side of the pack and play to reach the mattress, so if baby can’t stand up to come to you, you’ll find that it’s so hard to do.
Finally, you’ll have to buy a sheet for the mattress. You can get a BabyBjorn organic cotton sheet, or you can just find a cheaper Pack ‘N Play sheet that works, too.
Best Mini Pack ‘N Play
Baby Jogger City Suite Multi-Level Playard
If sleek and slim is your style, look no further than the Baby Jogger City Suite Multi-Level Playard. This playard will look great in your home, but it also transports easily. It has a cozy bassinet and a roomy playspace, so it’s perfect for all your baby’s needs as they grow up.
This pack and play folds small, is light to carry, and is easy to clean. It’s everything you’d want, but it does come with a considerable price tag.
What’s Special About This Pack ‘N Play
The style is sleek, which is hard to say about a lot of other playards. There aren’t a bunch of extra parts and pieces to make this bulky and an eye-sore. Instead, the dark and straight sides are simple. Plus, the heather gray jersey padding and black mesh are right on-trend. It’ll go with your decor and your outfit!
The weight is the other fabulous factor. At only 13.5 pounds, this is seriously easy to transport. The slim design equals a slim fold, so you can fold it up small and throw it in the car with almost no effort.
The Good
The name multi-level playard means that it has bassinet capabilities. The bassinet for the Pack ‘N Play is integrated, so there are just a couple of easy steps to make it a safe sleep spot for kids up to 18 pounds. Integrated means no extra parts to keep track of, so hooray for all-in-one playards!
The playard isn’t the biggest on the market, but there’s plenty of space for a toddler to play. It works as a playard until your child reaches 35 inches, which is the right height to start climbing out pretty easily.
There’s only one mattress that works in both bassinet and playard mode. The Pack ‘N Play can also collapse down flat on itself in either bassinet or playard mode.
All of the fabric is wipe-clean, but that’s not a big deal because it’s stain-resistant. You can add in a waterproof sheet and changing pad accessory to give you a little more use and to make this a baby care station.
Like I mentioned above, this travels really well, it collapses down flat and then sort of rolls and folds upon itself to create a small shape for you to just throw in the included carry bag and hit the road with! And to set it back up, just use the spring-loaded action to pop it open.
The Bad
This Pack ‘N Play is pretty expensive compared to a lot of the other models. And since it doesn’t come with the changing table or storage accessories (which you have to pay even more for!), that price tag is not quite justified.
Also, since this is a brand new product, there’s no telling if it’s good enough quality to last through a kid or two. Knowing the Baby Jogger brand, I’m betting it is, but time will tell!
Best Pack ‘N Play for Twins

The playard is not any larger, but this model comes equipped with options for twins. Think of the money you could save in the first few months by just purchasing a Pack ‘N Play with some add-ons instead of two bassinets and all the other necessary gadgets and gizmos.
The only real issue with this model is the playard is not big enough for two babies for very long as a playard. You may want to consider the Joovy Room2 if you plan on placing two older babies who can sit up unsupported in the playard.
The Baby Trend Twin Pack ‘N Play will be fabulous for those first few rough months and even until your babies are large enough to want a little space.
What’s Special About This Pack ‘N Play
This model comes with two removable rock-a-bye bassinets. Even better, both convert to stand-alone rockers. These are no ordinary bassinets either; they almost look like soft, plush bassinets, but without the legs and they come with a canopy with a couple of toys for stimulation and a carrying handle.
Not only are the bassinets plush, but also include mesh sides for ventilation. Also, they both include an electronic music center with volume control, a nightlight, and vibrations. I love finding another set with a nightlight! Especially with twins. You may need to see which one filled the diaper or make sure you are grabbing the right baby for middle of the night feedings.
The Good
In addition to the lovely bassinets, the set includes a fold-down changing table. You do not need to remove a bassinet to use the table. It folds out for use on the outside of the playard.
Other features include an extra-large diaper caddy for twice the amount of diapers and wipes.
The inner mattress pad can stay at the halfway mark for infants unable to sit up.
As with the majority of playards, this one has mesh sides for ventilation and to allow baby to see out.
Also, the unit includes wheels on one side for easy repositioning.
Lastly, the actual playard folds down for storage in the included bag. The other piece will not fit in the storage bag with the playard.
The Bad
The playard is only large enough for one baby once the bassinets are taken out. You will still need either a second playard or a larger playard for both babies when they are ready to sit, stand, or play. This is a great set for infants, not so much for older twins.
Also, getting another playard to match this one with the same pattern and not the hefty price tag with the add-ons may be a difficult task. Even the raised bassinet is for one baby.
Also, the bassinets may only work for a month or two up to about 15 pounds and babies reach that milestone pretty quickly.

Joovy New Room2 Portable Playard
In the theme of square playards take a peek at the Joovy New Room2 Portable Playard.
For a little more money than the Delta square playard on this list, you get a host of helpful features with this Joovy. Regular sized Pack ‘N Plays are like a tiny home and this is a spacious house in the suburbs. Lots of space for one baby or even two!
What’s Special About This Pack ‘N Play
While this playard is definitely portable, the point of this playard is the size. Babies are often trapped in confining furniture to keep them out of harm’s way and out of trouble. This is a way to keep them locked in but make them not feel so locked in.
As a matter of fact, your baby will actually have room to move around or dance to whatever music is going on in the room. Pop some toys in and let your little one play all with a 360-degree view.
The Good
This playard is almost 50% larger than most traditional playards. It’s even a little bigger than the Delta Pack ‘N Play by nearly an inch around. Joovy’s Pack ‘N Play offers over 10 square feet of play and sleep space.
Some babies and toddlers are like cats. No matter how tiny they are, they take up a lot of space. So much you often wonder how they can take up that much space!
Also, this has enough space for twins who refuse to be separated.
Speaking of twins. If you have twins, you might miss the nursery center that the old Joovy Room2 could support. It offered a place for newborns to sleep side by side and a convenient changing table, which holds up to a 25-pound baby. The Bad

The Good
The great shape and size make this the most portable Pack ‘N Play and the easiest Pack ‘N Play to set up. As a matter of fact, it will set up in under a minute.
Another great feature is the playard comes fully assembled so no trying to figure out where all the poles go.
The fully mesh sides are another reason for the lightweight design. The mesh also improves baby’s line of sight. They hate not knowing what is going on in the world surrounding them.
The bottom is made of canvas to survive inside or outside even in rainy conditions.
Finally, when your baby has outgrown this Pack ‘N Play, save it for the cute Pomeranian you plan to get.
The Bad
While this Pack ‘N Play crib can be used inside, it’s meant more for outside with the large size. Most homes do not have enough room between furniture for a 48″ hexagon-shaped Pack ‘N Play.
Also, this design has no padding or mattress pad to remain ultra-light and portable. Sure, your baby will be okay with the hard and uneven ground for a little while. Chances are strong though, a baby will begin to complain before long.
Next, the length of the item is a couple of inches shorter than standard designs, meaning your baby may be able to crawl out of this Pack ‘N Play sooner.
Lastly, the lightweight of the playard means this is better for sturdier babies who do not need any more than walls to keep them in, but they don’t need support from the walls.
Evenflo Versatile Play Space
If you are looking for a non-traditional playard, take a look at the Evenflo Versatile Play Space. Use this versatile play space inside or outside and keep your little one in a safe space.
While this does fold up, it’s completely different from the playards above, as it doesn’t have a bottom and is not a simple rectangle or square. Instead, this is more like a fancy fence meant to set specific boundaries for your child and all from a very affordable price.
What’s Special About This Pack ‘N Play
This is not a playard per se, but works like one. Keep your baby where you want them, but without all the hassle of setting up a playard. Set up the fence where you need it and use some padding if you like, or let the baby sit on the floor.
You can buy extra fence sections to enlarge your baby’s play space. The great benefit of this fencing is you can place multiple children inside. Also, you can change the shape to suit your needs, unlike a fold-up playard.
Finally, the bottom connectors between each section of the fence include a removable stake to secure this play set in the ground for outdoor use. Babies need lots of vitamin D from the sun. and now you can set this up outside to give them room to play in the grass and enjoy a little sunlight.
The Good
We already discussed the stakes for outdoor use, but this set also has floor pads for indoor use. No one wants to scratch up their floor!

Now mind you, this play area is not meant for babies under 6 months old. Babies need to be able to sit up unsupported for this play fence. The recommended age is 6-24 months.
Next, you won’t need any tools to assemble the play structure because of the unique hinge design with quick connection and smooth pivot.
The fencing can be folded down for easy storing or transport. Each panel has three handles for easy repositioning.
Using couldn’t be any easier. Set up where you want and connect the sides. Done! Pop a few toys in and maybe a blanket for comfort. After, the six panels fold-up to save on space.
Last, of all, the pieces are sturdy but not overly heavy at close to 17 pounds and you can pick from multiple colors.
The Bad
As you can imagine, this item will not be useful once your child can climb. This is not meant to be used for supporting the baby on the actual fence.
Before your baby starts climbing would be a great time to start teaching the word no. Babies will crawl out of traditional playards as well as bathtubs, cribs, and anything else you put them in once they are capable of climbing.
Finally, babies and toddlers can push this to a new location. Not a huge issue, especially if they know the word no, but do make sure this is not set up near stairs for safety reasons.
Try the Baby Care Play Mat Pen if you would prefer more weight to the fencing but it does come with an extra large price tag. It does work well with the Baby Care Play Mat but for another costly price tag though.

Is a Pack ‘N Play the same as a playard?
Yes! Let’s settle this so that it doesn’t get confusing. There are a ton of terms that all talk about the same thing, a Pack ‘N Play. You might see the following terms, which are all interchangeable:
- Pack ‘N Play
- Pack and play
- Playpen
- Playard
- Nursery center
- Portable crib
- Travel crib
- Play center
- And, sometimes, bassinet refers to the bassinet insert on many Pack ‘N Plays
At what age can my child use a Pack ‘N Play?
Babies can use Pack ‘N Plays as soon as they are born. Many now come with newborn inserts, but babies can lay in a regular playard as well.
At birth though, Pack ‘N Plays aren’t as convenient. Bending over after giving birth may still be difficult, and having the baby up higher helps a lot.
Playards can be used until a child is either 30 pounds, 35 inches, or can climb out on their own. Whichever comes first is a clear sign this playard will no longer safely contain your child. Most kids will be able to climb out around 18 months or earlier.
How can I check for recalled playards?
You can sign up at the CPSC website to receive emails. Also, here is a list of recalled playards.
Please comply with the recall guidelines for your baby’s safety. Do not continue to use a recalled playard and try to keep track of all baby furniture items that can be recalled.
Are Pack ‘N Plays safe?
Yes. Pack ‘N Plays must meet specific standards. This is also regulated by CPSC.

To make sure you are using a safe play yard, do not buy one more than three years old and check to see if it has been recalled before accepting as a gift or buying used. Safety is very important.
Is it safe to use sheets in a Pack ‘N Play or playpen?
Yes, but if you use sheets in the playpen, make sure they fit well and are not excessively loose. Also, make sure the baby cannot pull them off. Both are safety risks and can cause suffocation. Sheets on a Pack ‘N Play, and also on a crib and bassinet, should be tight for baby’s safety.

Are Pack ‘N Plays only for play or can they be used for sleep too?
Yes, your baby can sleep in a Pack ‘N Play.
It’s best to take all loose stuff out of the playard when the baby is napping. This includes toys, blankets, and bottles. All of these can be a threat to sleeping babies.
Otherwise, experts agree that this is the perfect napping solution for your baby. They can be close to you for easy checking.
Also, Pack ‘N Plays are by far more portable than cribs, so definitely a better option for a traveling bed for your baby.
