The 15 Best Humidifiers for Baby

1 – Homasy Ultrasonic Humidifiers, Cool Mist Humidifier

The Homasy Ultrasonic Humidifiers, Cool Mist Humidifier. Is large enough to serve your babies needs with a 3-liter capacity and 35-hour life. The design is perfect to disappear into a bedroom placed atop a dresser or bookshelf.

Ultrasonic Humidifiers are the most common type available. They use a high-frequency sound vibration to create water mist and moisturize a room. Despite the use of sound to create the mist, these machines, this one included, are very quiet. Even quieter than a dishwasher. Another reason ultrasonic humidifiers are so popular is because they do not need a filter to operate which saves money. Let’s move on to the benefits of this particular humidifier and why you need it in your home.

What Makes This Humidifier Special

The unobtrusive shape is the main reason this humidifier is special. The color is boring and white and does not change, but isn’t it better for a humidifier to blend in and not be ostentatious? We think so too.  Also, this one has a handle for those who need to move it from room to room. Pretty nifty.

The Good

Homasy’s humidifier offers an ultrasonic cool mist into your baby’s humble abode. The 3-liter capacity will last up to 35 hours. Even better, no filter necessary. The mist is adjustable with a simple dial. Next, the mist comes out of a large nozzle to cover a wider area. Also, the three liters of mist comes out over ten hours with an output of 330 ml per hour before auto shutoff. All this is done quietly at only 28dB, just above a whisper. Like with all humidifiers, clean the base on a regular basis. This is a very easy to use model for a very nice price. Finally, the lightweight device is perfect for moving from room to room.

The Bad

The tank is a bit annoying to fill. You need to stand it upside down on the handle and pour into a tiny hole to fill it up. This model does not allow for essential oils as they can corrode the tank.  A few customers complained about broken models after a couple of weeks and the company was very responsive to helping upset customers.

If you like this brand but want a humidifier with changing colors and essential oils, try the Homasy Essential Oil Humidifier.

2 – KOIOS Upgrade Top-Fill Humidifiers

Not only does the KOIOS Upgrade Top-Fill Humidifiers have a name that sounds like a Greek gods name, but it will keep your house full of humidity. This demi-god of a device has a huge capacity, enough to fill a whole room with enough mist to fill like a tropical island. That’s right, you don’t need a trip to an island, you need this humidifier. Think of all the airfare you will save!

What Makes This Humidifier Special

What I love about my new Greek friend (just to let you know, this humidifier comes from China and not Greece) is the easy to use buttons and the movable nozzle on the top to move the mist in another direction. Even cooler, the nozzle will stop when one area has reached the requested humidity. At this point, you move the nozzle in a new direction to restart the mist.

The Good

The first and important feature of this humidifier is the top fill. Take off the top put water in the giant gaping hole, put the lid on and press a button. Presto, humidity. I do want to point out that while the top looks like a fan, it is not a fan. A bit deceiving, but the design will keep fluids from dripping off the device and on to your antique dresser. Although this device is so large, you may want to place it on the floor. This could be a minor problem when baby starts crawling so find a way to put it up or teach baby no. In case math and you aren’t friends, four liters is over a gallon (I googled it). That’s a whole lot of water in the tank to prevent you constantly needing to refill.

Another lovely feature, the inside tank comes straight out for easy cleaning and dumping. It’s like a mom thought up the design! If you look at the above picture you will notice an Anion button, another Greek-sounding word. This button releases ions into the air to refresh the air. That’s some cool tech. Next, you can adjust the humidity level from 45 percent to 90 percent. So Texas or New Hampshire. Your choice. Another button turns on sleep mode for a lighter mist. Also, the machine has a timer function to set up to 12 hours. The machine has three mist modes. Finally, the device is pretty darn quiet at 35db or less. Think turning the page of a book.

The Bad

A small percentage of customers complained about this model dying after a few days. Most concerns were taken seriously and addressed quickly by the company. That’s it. The larger size might be a bit of deterrent for people who would prefer a humidifier up on a dresser or a bookshelf.

3 – VAVA Humidifier with Remote Control

The VAVA Humidifier with Remote Control not only features a remote control but a unique shape. This humidifier has a long elegant gooseneck to add a little charm to any room. Do not use this device for essential oils, but do use it to add some humidity to a bedroom to reduce snoring or allergies. This versatile machine will serve all of your needs and look good doing so with a ton of awesome features. Finally, enjoy a nice cool mist all from a convenient remote control.

What Makes This Humidifier Special

Beyond the super unique shape, you can use this device with the long neck or without for your preference or space needs. Only one other model on this list features a remote control which makes this model even more unique. Lastly, the gooseneck allows mist to go higher and in more directions for more room coverage, or keep the coverage local with minus the neck.

The Good

The gooseneck is cool but so is the 3-liter tank (just shy of a gallon for you non-math lovers). With the two nozzles, you can control the flow of the mist and create the desired atmosphere. Also, you can change nozzles depending on the space. Some days you may need the humidifier in the bathroom while other times you may need it in the living room for yoga. Either way, your rooms gain mist with volume controls including high, medium, or low. Set the time for 2 hours, 4 hours, or 6 hours. Set sleep mode for low water protection to turn off sounds and lights at night and the machine will auto shut-off when the water is gone. All of this is done with buttons instead of a dial for easy convenience or use the remote.

When using the gooseneck you will want to put the device on the floor and without, either leave the device on the floor or put it up out of reach. This versatile model is excellent for a baby’s nursery with all the unique functions. The company does suggest keeping the product on the floor without a towel or blanket. The device is easy to clean which is a real treat as life is full difficult to clean items. Even the filter is cleanable. Distilled water is preferable. Finally, the device is super light at just over four pounds so easy to transport around the house.

The Bad

The air inlet is on the bottom so you would probably not want to use this on a carpet or hardwood floors that are not waxed. This humidifier doesn’t fill from the top but with the gooseneck, you have to trade off something. Finally, a couple of buyers did not enjoy cleaning the device.

4 – Ultrasonic Cool and Warm Mist Humidifier by Polardo

The Ultrasonic Cool and Warm Mist Humidifier by Polardo definitely has a unique shape. The cylinder bottom comes with a plate type top for a truly unique design piece. Of course, like most humidifiers, this one is white with touches of silver. I would love to see some humidifiers (with decent ratings) in colors meant to match decor or at least blend in. A green, maybe a brown, or some combination of colors to smoothly transition into a home environment. Moving on though, despite the boring color, this device is anything but boring. The price is a bit high but well worth the cost for what you get such as a gallon tank and a whole lot of mist to make your home a sanctuary.

What Makes This Humidifier Special

Beyond the unique shape, this humidifier offers 2.4 billion vibrations per minute which no other humidifier has offered. The size is big enough to cover a room up to 485 square feet. That’s the size of a large tiny home so definitely big enough to cover a babies room. Next, this humidifier has a special spot to add in essential oils. The humidifier also includes a sophisticated 3-stage water purification system without the need for water filters. Finally, the other distinguishing feature is this ultrasonic humidifier can output warm or cool mist, not to be confused with steam.

The Good

This humidifier like the last has a built-in air ionization system. When you need to clean or add water to the tank, you can remove the tank easily and it also has a 2.5 inch opening for more ease of use. The air purifying aspect of this unit produces 300 million cleansing ions per minute. These ions combat bacteria, viruses, and microorganisms, as well as, heavy metals and other toxins. What a great way to keep your little one’s room safe and healthy.

This humidifier is so quiet, you may find yourself checking to see if it is on. Another great feature is soft LED lights to help restless sleepers stay asleep. The design prevents the device from falling over. The tank is four liters or one gallon and produces a superfine mist. The warm mist can go up to 107°F or you can use cool mist for up to 24 hours in a 485 square foot room. If you want to use low speed than you need to use cool mist.

Another cool feature is 12 adjustable mist setting all accessible through touch buttons. The device will auto shut off for use overnight and no danger of fire or damage to the unit. To combat illness the suggested humidity is 43%. Finally, the device is medium-sized and can go on the floor or on top of a surface. If your baby is able to crawl, you may want to put this up out of reach.

The Bad

While the water filter does not need to be replaced, you do need to replace the air filter but only once per year. As with most humidifiers, protect any furniture you place it on with a towel, a plate, or a blanket of some sort. The warm mist can only last about 12 hours while the cool mist 24 hours. The heat takes up more water and causes it to evaporate quickly so keep this in mind. That’s it. Go forth and produce humidity!

5 – InvisiPure Wave Humidifier

The InvisiPure Wave Humidifier comes at a very respectable price although look a little cheap with a white base and a blue body. Either way, the humidifier will definitely serve all of your needs and with long use, a compact size, and it’s easy to use. Plug into the wall and the fine mist will fill your babies room with a fine cool mist. Let’s face it though, the reason you will choose this device is because it has all the features you need at the right price.

What Makes This Humidifier Special

The special feature of this unit is twofold. First, the device houses a built-in nightlight, saving you one more item you need to plug into the wall. Of course, you do not have to use this feature if your baby prefers the dark. The other specialty of this unit is the 360-degree adjustable mist output from the easy of an adjustable knob for your desired level of mist.

The Good

All the features you are looking for to reduce coughing, congestion, allergies, and dry furniture are in this unit. Humidifiers can even help prevent chapped lips and dry skin! The tank holds 2.5 liters of water for up to 25 hours of use. The machine promises not to disturb your babies sleep by operating quietly. The compact size will fit nicely on your son or daughters dresser or bookshelf. But the best part is the machine is easy to use. Because who needs another difficult to use device?

Next, the unit will automatically shut off when the water runs out. The tank is easy to fill with no funnel needed for small openings. The nightlight mentioned above is touch activated. That’s pretty nifty. Also, the device will work for 12-25 hours producing a cool mist. Finally, the compact size means you can take this humidifier on the go with you for hospital stays or visits with your mom.

The Bad

The tank must be taken off and filled from the bottom, which is frustrating but not a deal breaker. Don’t worry about leaking water though with the twisting plug to prevent leaks. This unit does not allow for the use of essential oils. If that is a feature you are looking for please select a different model. Some customers complained of leaks. This will happen with any device that has liquid at some point or other. Make sure to use a towel underneath and make sure everything is securely tightened to prevent leaking.

6 – MADETEC 1L Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier

MADETEC’s 1L Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier is my favorite because it’s so cute. The wide base is shallow and changes colors! This is easily the cutest model for your babies room and small enough to not take up a lot of space. Even cooler, the bottom lights up too with the color you chose. This device while one of the smallest will still last all night if on low mist mode. Lastly, if you take the lid away the mist looks like its coming out of the shallow part for a super cool effect.

What Makes This Humidifier Special

The seven color changing modes and the super tiny size are what makes this unit special. Most of the other devices are larger and take up more space. This one is small enough to fit on a bedside table. Also, another added benefit is a remote control where you can play with the colors, set the timer, and change the amount of mist.

The Good

Like most humidifiers, this is an ultrasonic device using vibrations to create the mist for 3 hours, 6 hours, or 9 hours for overnights. Now you just need to get your baby to sleep for nine hours! Feel free to add some essential oils to this humidifier. Lavender and mint are a great combination for headaches and for sleep. The tank size on this model is one liter, a small amount for sure but will still work overnight.

Next, this model has a timer, auto shutoff, and a 360-degree nozzle. Have a little fun by taking off the nozzle for cloud mode. The top comes off the base for a huge opening to fill and makes this model especially easy to clean all for one very nice price.

The Bad

An extremely small amount of customers complained about this unit not working. Otherwise, the only real complaint is because of the shape of the unit, the mist does not go up but rather out. If this is an issue for you, you can always place the unit higher up so the mist will go down. Lastly, while this model does accept essential oils, the oils will go in about an hour and then you will need to add more. I have found this to be true of most humidifiers and diffusers that are specially designed for oils. Just add a few drops and later go and add more. Even mixing does not help as oils always pool back up to the top which is why they evaporate first.

If you want a larger tank size but still want color changing lights than try SimpleTaste’s 3L Ultrasonic Cool Mist Diffuser.

7 – Oblong-HK Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier

Bring on the cuteness with the Oblong-HK Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier. The top looks like a teddy bear’s face. Overall it looks like one of those toys you can punch and it bounces back before bouncing forward ready for another punch. The face is so cute and the neckline has a light. This humidifier pulls double duty as it adds humidity but also purifies the air. Take a look at the other functions below.

What Makes This Humidifier Special

This unit has a USB port and a micro USB port in the back of the head to take along and use in the car or at the office. Although, if you are taking it to the office you might get a few looks since it really does look like it belongs in a baby’s room. The super portable humidifier is about the size of a large drinking glass.

The Good

The small-sized unit can easily fit on the end table in your babies room or even a window. The design is very cute as well while all the others look like they were made for adults, this one actually looks like it was made for a baby or a child who never grew up. This model uses about a glass full of water or 300 milliliters (or about 10 ounces for those who despise math from another country). Even better, this model has two light modes. Use either the monochrome mode or the aurora mode.

My absolute favorite thing about this humidifier is the way the mist comes out. It looks like the bear has a constantly leaking nose as the mist comes out of his nose! The power button is on top of its head. Wouldn’t it be great if babies came with a power button on the head? We could just power them down for their naps. Life would be so much easier. Other functions include auto shut-off, two-speed fog modes, and of course quiet operating.

The Bad

The only downfall of this device is the small design does mean it will need to be filled often for chronic use. Oh, and the unit does not plug it so you will need to power it via a computer or a cord before use. The small amount will not last overnight, but I am assuming if you are buying a tiny humidifier it’s because you plan to travel with it not add humidity to a large bedroom.

8 – Tekjoy Cool Mist Humidifier

The Tekjoy Cool Mist Humidifier looks like an oversized teardrop. This mid-range option offers a lot of function for a very friendly price. The tapered off top shoots mist up and away from your baby’s face for up to 24 hours. While this model offers all the same functions as the units above, the size of this one is somewhere in the middle and a better fit for some homes. You will have no issues moisturizing your home and preventing bloody noses with this model.

What Makes This Humidifier Special

The only unique feature about this unit opposed to the others above and below is it comes equipped with cleaning supplies. That is, included in the box are two ultrasonic disk brushes, a tank brush, and a handle to lift the tank out for cleaning. None other models appear to come with a cleaning closet attached. Despite all those cleaning supplies, this does not mean you need to spend a ton of extra time cleaning, just that you do not need to go find specialized tools for cleaning day.

The Good

Tekjoy’s teardrop model will keep your nursery comfortably humid for up to 24 hours. While smaller at 2.5 liters, the tank will definitely last overnight unless you put it on the highest settings. Either way, the size is perfect for sitting atop a dresser. This unit was designed in Switzerland to be easy to use with as little hassle as possible. The handle folds down and disappears between uses. Well, it doesn’t really disappear, it just blends into the design.

The spout offers 360-degrees of refreshing mist and the device will automatically shut down when the water runs out. Next, you can set the time for four-hour increments all the way up to 12 hours. As expects, this humidifier is quiet. Don’t worry, quiet humidifiers are not a sign something is wrong. That’s a toddler, they should be checked on and quickly. The buttons are easy enough to follow with settings like low, medium, and high for the amount of mist output you prefer. Lastly, This model changes to seven different colors to pull a double shift as a night light.

The Bad

As with all water filled devices, this one can leak. Make sure to place something underneath the device if you value your furniture. A few customers complained about cleaning the unit. Finally, a very small handful of customers received a defective model. Sadly, this will happen with just about any electronic device.

9 – AerusPowerPure 5000 Warm Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier

The PowerPure 5000 Warm Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier by Aerus PowerPure is one of the priciest options available but is a powerhouse of a machine that covers about 200 square feet more than other tanks. The sleek black design is boxy and tapers a little towards the top. The design makes it easy to store on the floor or on a tabletop like a dresser. Besides the LCD panel, this humidifier could just disappear into your home except of course for the added moisture. Let’s look at the rest this device offers.

What Makes This Humidifier Special

Another model offered the option of warm and cool mist above but this one covers more space. The PowerPure 5000 should have been called the 700 as that’s the area it covers with the 3-gallon tank. The very nicest feature about this unit is the permanent ceramic filter that softens and cleans the water in the tank.

The Good

Here you have another ultrasonic humidifier with very quiet operation to serve your babies moisture needs. Like the others, because this device can heat up it has an auto shut-off feature to prevent unsafe issues. The LCD control panel features soft-touch buttons. Even better, this model includes a remote control to operate from a distance. Think about lying in bed and realize the mist is too strong and keeping you awake. Just grab the remote off the end table and adjust the mist to lower and head back to dreamland without ever removing the covers.

As with other models, healthy humidity should range from 35 to 45 percent relative humidity. Next, this unit has an optional negative ion generator to improve air quality for overall wellness. The remote has a 12 hours time function. Also, the spout has a 360-degree mist output with dual mist outlet for better control. Finally, the water tank has a safety lock to prevent children from removing the tank and accessing the water. This humidifier should last you a long time. Maybe your baby can buy the next one!

The Bad

Some consumers had issues changing the mist mode and a few had issues with the bright LCD screen. The back of this device is solid and not transparent so if LCD lights bother you, change the direction the machine faces to prevent the light from bothering you. Otherwise, the only real issue is why doesn’t this device offer more function for the price? I would expect it to at least offer a legitimate nightlight.

10 – VicTsing Cool Mist Humidifier

This next humidifier looks like your standard model but gets the job done with tons and tons of happy customers. TheVicTsing Cool Mist Humidifier has all the standard features all for a very wallet-friendly price. While this model doesn’t have the lights or a remote control you will love what it can do for your baby, that keeps the air moist to reduce the effects of dryness and keep them healthy.

What Makes This Humidifier Special

Everything about this unit is pretty standard but it gets the job done and done well. One unique feature of this unit is the nozzle points up at a bit of an angle to make sure the moisture shoots up into the air and not down into your carpet or at the same level as the humidifier to keep all the moisture in one place. Also, the filling hole is large enough to be filled from the sink with your faucet. Lastly, a cool feature is the LED indicator turns green when the machine is working properly or red when it needs more water.

The Good

Here’s the breakdown: This is a cool mist ultrasonic humidifier with a 2-liter tank (0r about half a gallon if you need a visual). The dial knob controls the mist to get it to the precise level of output you prefer. The device has a 45 degree tilted nozzle to allow continue mist to flow and provide a wider coverage of humidified air. Of course, you can expect all night mist with auto shutoff when the water runs out. The tank is easy to fill with an arc-shaped handle with anti-slip grooves for easy. Also, the size is perfect of medium sized rooms like a bedroom or baby nursery.

Next, you will love that the anti-bacterial material used will inhibit the growth of bacteria. Your baby will love the super quietness of the machine. The machine will operate anywhere from 12 to 24 hours. Finally, expect more powerful mist for longer with a tubular-flow air duct with an increased humidifying speed. All great ways to reduce static in the air and get a better nights rest.

The Bad

This humidifier is not essential oil friendly. Also, the tank fills from the bottoms. As some customers have noticed, the machine does leak some so do place a towel underneath. You can buy a plastic tray to place underneath with any humidifier. Where there is water there will be leaks.  A few customers got defective units but the company seemed was responsive to issues. No more issues than you will find with any other humidifier.

11 – OPOLAR Digital Evaporative Humidifier

The unique shape of the OPOLAR Digital Evaporative Humidifier will keep you mystified (get it?). The long wide body ready to pour tons of mist into your home will improve your life and with a little bit of pizazz. Even the control panel looks straight out of the future along with the slightly curvy figure. That’s not all this unique humidifier has going for it. Take a look below for all of the fabulousness that is the OPolar humidifier.

What Makes This Humidifier Special

All of the other humidifiers so far have been ultrasonic mist humidifiers but this is an evaporative humidifier. What’s the difference? The ultrasonic humidifiers use sound vibrations to create mist and the evaporative humidifiers release moisture into the air by blowing water with a fan. These are often the most hygienic options as they do not release any dust. Also, they are energy-efficient and still noiseless. Finally, this means you get humidity without the mist. My other favorite part of this humidifier is it has an overflow hole and shows the minimum and maximum capacities. As the base is not see-through this is necessary.

The Good

First, let’s start by telling you the tank is an easy top fill. Super convenient. The water fills up the internal organs and the lungs go to let you know when it’s full. By lungs, I mean the filter. This is no ordinary filter but a cloth filter – its made of nylon and polyester – you can hand wash and then put back in for continued use. Keep the air clean of impurities with regular cleaning. When the filter turns yellow, give it a bath to keep the air flowing and unclogged. Strange fact, clean the filter with boiling water and vinegar.

The buttons are easy to use with a touch-sensitive LED display. This is the perfect humidifier for small or medium size rooms as it holds 0.8 gallons or 3 liters or 12 cups, whichever math works for you. If the other functions weren’t enough to convince you to buy, the humidifier also works as a negative ion air purifier to help clean up the air of naughty little bacteria and viruses. Use the timer to run when you cannot watch the device. Last, fill up before bed and it will last for up to 24 hours. The quiet mode provides lower output and the standard mode has a higher mist output.

The Bad

Beyond a few customers receiving defective models the problems with this model are limited. The buttons might stick and the fill line can be difficult to see. The filter can smell pretty bad depending on how much the purifier sucks up. Also, as happens with fabric, this can mold. Let it dry out occasionally. Do not worry about replacing the filter. A month after you purchase the company will send you a link for the filter. Having a second on hand could be helpful.

12 – OPOLAR Quietest Digital Humidifier

Opolar also makes a ultrasonic humidifier called the OPOLAR Quietest Digital Humidifier for Room and Bedroom (black). The price isn’t quite as high as their evaporative humidifier and this one sure looks futuristic with a black rounded rectangular body. This neat little device has few fun features packed in, most of which you will be familiar with by now. A possible deterrent may be this humidifier looks like an alarm clock but I assure you it is not a clock. Might still be fun to smack around in the morning but you may not want to keep replacing it at this price!

What Makes This Humidifier Special

The first special feature of this futuristic machine is you can set the timer for one-hour increments instead of in multiples of two, three, or four like the other units. Even nicer, this model will shut off at a preset humidity and then resume it’s course when the humidity drops below the desired level. What a smart little machine!

The Good

Most of the features are quite familiar to you by now. You can expect three mist levels all with quiet operation. The unit will work for 12-26 hours all in ultrasonic mode. The built-in timer operates in one-hour increments. Even the layout of this model is awesome. The front looks like an alarm clock while the back house the base and the water tank for a very unique appearance.

Fill the tank with 3-liters and enjoy 360-degree mist from the nozzle even in sleep mode. As is the norm, the unit comes with auto shut-off. All these functions with an unobtrusive LED display that shows what level of humidity the room is. Set the humidity from 40 percent to 85 percent humidity all in 300 to 500 square feet. Next, the unit does not need a filter so you will save on that added expense. I saved the best feature for last. The mist goes up higher with smaller particles to prevent damp or wet surfaces.

The Bad

A few customers ended up with defective models and the company was quick to correct the problems. Again, you can expect some leaking. The size is a bit small for covering rooms over 500 square feet otherwise this model is as top notch as the other Opolar brand device.

13 – TaoTronics Top-Fill Humidifiers

Score! TheTaoTronics Top-Fill Humidifiers is as described a top-fill unit! Why aren’t all of the models top-fill? Life does not need to be complicated! The boxy tall rectangular device could be more colorful. White is boring, why is everyone so obsessed with the most neutral color in the world? They did go wild and create another color: ivory.  Everything else about this model speaks simple, well white and ivory are simple too. Let’s look at the rest of the features.

What Makes This Humidifier Special

The other tanks allow for the use of essential oils but this one has a special spot to put the oils on a little sponge to increase the intensity of the oils. If you put oils in the water, they will evaporate in an hour or so and then the rest of the time you will need to either reapply or live without. This humidifier gives you the best of the best. The other wonderful advantage to this particular unit is a backlit fill-line. Even better, you can actually turn off the backlight for sleep. Hello! Finally, a truly thoughtful design.

The Good

“Easy to fill, easy to clean, easy to set up,” is the motto for the TaoTronics humidifier and we love it. What more could you ask for from a humidifier? Well, no leaking would be great, but that’s the nature of water and just a tragedy we must learn to live with. Everything you want in a humidifier you will find here. First, the device holds just over a gallon of water. It will be easy to see when the water is gone with the fill line.

Like the other models, this one offers a cool mist. It does not state if this is ultrasonic cool mist. You can add in your favorite essential oil. I recommend Germ Fighter as it helps to purify the air. The humidifier is made of antibacterial material to prevent mold buildup and keep your baby’s nursery fresh and clean. Sorry, it probably will not get rid of the dirty diaper smell.

The 5-liter tank will mist up your room of up to 322 square feet (I personally think it will go farther) for up to 40 hours, less obviously for a larger room. Use the blue night mood light or switch it off by holding the MIST button for 3 seconds. Next, this device comes with a floater. Make sure to put it in the base words up or the machine will not turn on. Speaking of the base, the water tank comes out completely for easy cleaning and dumping of unused water. The device has an auto shut-off and of course a timer setting and variable mist outputs. Finally, the box includes a cleaning brush to make your life easier.

The Bad

Taotronic’s humidifier does not promise anywhere to be quiet. The unit does appear to make a gurgling noise and sometimes the noise is rather loud. Think of it this way, you cannot turn down the ocean or a babbling brook and yet people use both of those sounds as white noise to fall asleep. So basically, this is not just a humidifier but also a white noise machine to help lull your baby to sleep. I see a win-win. A few customers got defective models, or they did not make sure the floater was facing with the words up.

Read here for more information on the best white noise machines.

14 – Mini Cool Mist Humidifier Portable by POHO

The Mini Cool Mist Humidifier Portable – Personal 180ML by POHO is a sleek little black humidifier. It’s like the little black dress of the humidifier world. It’s ready to travel, clean air, and improve moisture for your baby even when you cannot be home.

What Makes This Humidifier Special

The tiny size is what’s great about this device. Two of the others were small too but one was a much different shape and another was a teddy bear. The fan top helps to keep water from pooling even when on the go, which this unit is ready to do – travel.

The Good

Labeled a car humidifier, this thirty-milliliter tank can also diffuse aromatherapy water with a nano-scale fine cool mist. Next, change the lights with the click of a button. Click the button to turn on or of or change colors. The LED lights can serve as a night light in a hotel or at Uncle Joe’s house. This humidifier is very quiet, as is the nature of ultrasonic humidifiers. Finally, plug into your PC to charge or use a power bank or try a USB outlet. While small, this unit packs in two mist modes all with one multi-purpose button. Next, it can do a continuous mist for four and a half hours or go in intervals for nine hours. Finally, the device will automatically shut off when the water is too low.

The Bad

This humidifier can use aromatherapy water but not essential oils which is difficult to find. All of the complaints about this model are the same as the other models otherwise. This is a great option to take on the road.

15 – BONECO 2-in-1 Air Washer W200

The last humidifier I am going to show you is actually an air washer. You may want the BONECO 2-in-1 Air Washer W200 and not even know it! The first thing you need to know is the air washer is both a humidifier and a purifier. The second thing you need to know is the price is steep but you are getting a lot for your money. This device is larger than the others and almost resembles an air conditioner more than a humidifier and it works harder than all of the other units on the list. However, this is the largest device listed and you will need to set back a serious amount of space for this unit.

What Makes This Humidifier Special

The large boxy humidifier works two ways. First, the drum pulls water from the tank and pulls out the bad stuff. Second, the clean air is then pushed out and bad stuff in the air is pulled in. Now doesn’t that sound like something your little one needs? The mist comes out both sides of the machine and the bad particles such as pollen and dust are pulled into the top for a truly unique device. What else would you expect from a Swiss machine?

The Good

This unit will cover a space of about 54o for its dual purpose of moisturizing and purifying the air. It uses just over 2 gallons of water a day to get the job done. Next, you will love that the device is easy to clean. As a matter of fact, the cloth filter can go in the washing machine. Other parts can go in the dishwasher, nothing could be easier. The company even promises to remove up to 99% of pollen and dust from the room. Also, the base is very easy to fill. Think of this unit as a washing machine for the air.

The water acts as a natural filter and washed impurities out of the air. Meanwhile, the self-regulating evaporation principle corrects the room’s humidity, all while the air automatically draws all the moisture it needs to get the job done. The machine does not consume a lot of power. Lastly, the machine has two levels, one for the day and one for the night. You can even use essential oils in a special fragrance container.

The Bad

The water tank is rather small and if you want the device to work all night do not put it on the high setting. Most of the room in the base is afforded to the drum to help purify and spread the mist. This is a bit of a give and take. That’s it! Not a lot of bad here except the high price.

FAQs for Baby Humidifiers

What’s the difference between a humidifier and a diffuser?

One of the bigger differences between the two is the size and the amount of water used. A humidifier attempts to humidify an entire room while a diffuser means to diffuse oil into the air. Here’s the break down for each. A humidifier helps to alleviate respiratory problems, add moisture to the air in your home, and kill common bacteria in the air.

A diffuser uses essential oils mixed with water to diffuse oils into the air and can work as an air freshener. Some oils can clean the air but a diffuser by nature will not go far enough to clean as much as a humidifier and will not clean the air. Some humidifiers can add moisture to the air and spread the oils.

Which is better, cool mist or warm mist?

Cool mist humidifiers are a better choice for children as warm mist humidifiers can burn a child if they get too close. Both cool mist and warm mist are equally effective at humidifying the air. Once the mist reaches the air outside the humidifier it will cool even if it is warm mist.

What’s the difference between a humidifier and a dehumidifier?

A humidifier adds moisture to the air while a dehumidifier removes moisture from the air. Some places are too warm and can cause issues while other places are too dry and need a little help moisturizing the air.

What’s the difference between a humidifier and a vaporizer?

You already know what a humidifier does but a vaporizer serves a different purpose. It uses boiling water to create hot steam and then can be used to inhale plant extracts or other sources to benefit health. A child should never be left alone with a vaporizer, while a humidifier can be left alone out of reach of a child.

How do I clean a humidifier?

Most often you can use warm water to clean a vaporizer. For ultrasonic models, you can use water and vinegar if there is mineral buildup. For evaporative models, clean the filter in water and let it dry completely before putting it back. Make sure to clean the inside of the other components as well to prevent mold.

Why aren’t popular brands like Honeywell, Crane, and Vicks on this list?

Just because something is widely available doesn’t mean that it’s a great product. Unfortunately, those well-known brand names do not offer quality products customers rave about. Most of the reviews for these products are subpar at best and here at Experienced Mommy, we want to show the very best options to our readers.

What is the best humidifier for a sick baby?

All of these models above will be very good to help a sick baby but the last one, the BONECO 2-in-1 Air Washer W200 will clean the air even better and may be the best option for a baby. You may also want to look into a vaporizer like the RoyAroma Personal Cool Mist Inhaler Compressor System for babies with a chronic cough or for congestion. Please talk to your doctor first.

Will a humidifier help my baby’s congestion?

Yup! As humidifiers can help with allergies and allergies can cause congestion, as can dry air, a humidifier can be a valuable assistant in relieving your child’s congestion. Plus, the extra moisture can help to loosen existing mucous, which can somewhat relieve a stuffed-up baby.

Are humidifiers safe for newborns?

Absolutely. Babies have sensitive skin that needs moisture to stay baby soft. Not to mention, the added moisture will clean the air and prevent allergies and other uncomfortable symptoms from dry air. Humidifiers will even improve your babies sleep by alleviating discomforts.

Babies are very good at adjusting to humidity levels and seldom have problems from too much humidity (think New England or the South). Too high humidity does come with its own set of issues, for example, it can cause a runny nose (its clearing congestion) or create moldy situations which can be dangerous especially for babies with mold allergies. Try to keep the humidity level between 50 and 70 percent to avoid mold.

Final Thoughts

You came here looking for a recommendation for the best humidifier to put on the dresser in your baby’s room. Read up on each before you make your final decision as each humidifier offers something a little different from the other. Not to mention, the more you read about something the more you understand the different aspects and humidifiers practically come with their own language. That will all be water under the bridge after you read all about these water-filled machines. If your baby has allergies, gets bloody noses, has dry skin, or your house tends to be very dry, then you may want to get a humidifier. Somethings you want dry, like diapers, other things you want with some moisture, like the air your baby breathes.

The OPOLAR Digital Evaporative Humidifier in the humidifier world for a decent price. All of the models on this list are the best of the best but I just love how the evaporative humidifier puts less mist and puts moisture into the air while clearing out cooties and other harmful particles.
